One of the MORE exciting things happening this summer are the OLYMPIC GAMES.

Have you ever dreamed of being an Olympic Athlete?
Would you participate in the SUMMER or WINTER Olympic Games?
What event(s) would you participate in?
Do you watch the Olympics?

Hopefully the Olympic Games happen!
Should the Olympics happen with NO FANS?
Would you be disappointed if they were cancelled?

Explain.

Comments

  1. When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming an olympic athlete but as I grew older, I grew out of that phase. If I could, I would participate in both summer and winter sports. It's hard for me to pick either one because they're both fun to watch. In winter, I would participate in hockey and in summer, I would participate in volleyball. Those are my favourite sports and it would be cool to play them. My mom and I are a big fan of watching the Olympics. We try to watch them every year. It would honestly suck if there were no fans but due to COVID, I think there shouldn't be so everyone can be safe. I would be disapointed if they got cancelled because I'm looking forward to watching them and seeing all the different teams.

  2. When I was younger, I always dreamed of becoming an Olympic Athlete. I think that I would participate in the Summer Olympics, because I play more sports in that category. I would play tennis, volleyball or maybe even swimming. I watch most of the Olympics with my family, but my favourite to watch is the Winter Olympics. I love watching the skiing and snowboarding. I think that for safety measures, even though it ruins some of the excitement, there shouldn’t be a big crowd. I would be pretty disappointed if the Olympics got cancelled because I look forward to watching them.

  3. I have always thought it would be so cool to go to the olympics. If I had the option to chose between the summer and winter olympics I think I would chose the winter olympics. I would choose the winter olympics mostly because of the sport I would play. In the winter olympics I would want to participate in a skiing and in the summer i would like to participate in either soccer or water polo. I do like to watch the olympics with my family. I would one hundred percent be disappointed if the games were cancelled. I think they should happen no matter what even if it means there is no spectators.

    1. I think that they're should be spectators during the events so that the athletes have people cheering them on.

    2. I agree, they should happen even if there are no fans in the stadium. Great blog

    3. But watching the Olympics is quite literally watching people do the exact same thing, but slightly different each time. It's boring.

  4. I've honestly never watched the Olympics but I still do find it sad they've been canceled for 2 years now especially since that's how Olympic athletes make their money. I've never dreamed of being an Olympic athlete mostly because I never had interest in any of the sports at the event. I think it would also be awful if the games happened with no one in the crowd it make the event feel like practice and I think the athletes would be a lot less motivated. All and all I think that even though I personally don't enjoy the Olympics they should still happen with limited people in the crowds so that the athletes participating have a platform and people who enjoy the Olympics have something to watch.

    1. Yeah that would be tough on the athletes because the event only happens every 4 years

  5. When I was young the only sport I did was soccer and I was very bad at the game and could never see myself being a professional. And now especially that im older I see just how unrealistic it is to become an Olympic athlete without practicing the majority part of your life. But it would be cool. If I could then I would participate in the summer Olympics and play beach volleyball because I really like the sport and its very exciting to play. I never really watch the Olympics, ive only ever watched a few highlights or some of the events that interest me. I think that maybe they shouldn't allow fans to watch until everyone is vaccinated and numbers go down or they could only allow people from the country to watch. I dont really mind if the olympics get cancelled but I would feel bad for the athletes.

  6. Personally, I have never really dreamed of being an Olympic Athlete because I was never really big on sports. If I could participate in the Olympics though, I would choose the summer Olympics and I would participate in the running events. I do like watching the Olympics on TV because it is fun to watch and to see all the athletes compete. I believe that to be safe there shouldn't be any fans but if they do decide to have fans they should take precautions like social distancing and wearing masks. If the Olympics get cancelled I would be a little disappointed since we haven't had them in years now.

  7. I never really dreamed of becoming an Olympic Athlete, I always seem to know that even if I tried, I would never make it. If I had to be in the Olympics, I would be in the winter ones, participating for Freestyle Skiing, where you do many tricks. I would have to know many more tricks, but that's besides the point. I do watch the Olympics, mainly the winter ones, mostly skiing and hockey, as I prefer those sports more than other sports. I believe the Olympics should have no Fans, as it could and will lower the probability of someone getting infected, as well possibly help them concentrate and perform better overall. Honestly, I would not be that disappointed, as I could watch other ski events, but I would love to see team Canada crush every other hockey team

  8. I have never, ever dreamed of becoming an Olympic athlete. Sports were never something I was invested in, and when it gets as competitive as the Olympics, people can get nasty with each other. But even then, I have never been the most athletic type, considering my body is built like a bunch of toothpicks glued together. I can't play sports very well. I'd have to spend so many years of my life training for not even the certainty of getting into the Olympics. I don't watch the Olympics, as again, I'm not very interested in sports as a whole. Half the sports I wouldn't understand, and the others, it's just the same thing being repeated by different people. I wouldn't participate in most of them, although I do like fencing, and bobsled. They shouldn't allow fans to watch the games in person. Instead, they should set up a lot more cameras so that people would have an even better view of the athletes competing. And finally, I would not be disappointed if the Olympics got cancelled, as they mean absolutely nothing to me.

  9. I can't say I've ever dreamed of becoming an Olympic athlete, I enjoy playing sports and I'm pretty good but I know that everybody there is on another level. I would probably participate in the winter Olympics since Canada watches them more, and because of the sport I would do. I don't think it matter what sport I chose, except the only one I think I might have a chance in is the ski jump. I would do the ski jump since I feel like that sport is based off how willing you are to risk it, and because of Eddy the Eagle. I watch the Olympics, my family just keeps the TV playing the Olympics playing all day so when I feel like I go, or when there is something important like the gold medal match for the 100 meter dash. I think the Olympics should currently happen with no fans, unless we have heard immunity by then. I would be disappointed if they ended because I would feel bad for all the young athletes who put blood, sweat and tears into their sport, then made it through the qualifiers, but now they have to go home.

    1. I agree, it would be tragic for the athletes that practice every minute for this and the Olympics got canceled. Great blog!

    2. I agree with you, but they actually may have fans, the NHL has fans now, so there is a possibility.

  10. When I was younger I was always dreaming of being on Team Canada's Olympic hockey team. I would always think of the day I would play with Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid. I would also try really hard in hockey practices and games imagining the others as Olympic players and this was the Finals. Of course now I am more of a realist and know this dream will probably never happen. Even though I know I won't join the Olympics, I do still love to watch them. I like to watch almost all sports, but there are some sports, (curling) that are way too boring to watch. I believe if not everyone is vaccinated by then, the Olympics should do the same as the NBA playoffs and make there be no fans but some people watch by zoom. I wouldn't really be disappointed because usually I only realize the Olympics are happening when I notice it on TV it is not something I look forward to, I just enjoy watching it when it is on.

  11. Being a huge hockey fanatic, and player, and a lover of Canada (Best country in the world no questions asked), I have dreamed of representing my country in the Olympics tenfold, and I still do. Of course for me I would rather participate in the winter Olympics, even though watching the summer Olympics is so much more hype for whatever reason. If I was to participate in the Olympics, I would do either a running event, or long jump, because in elementary school, I set a school record for longest jump, at track, and I think I still have it in me.

    2. In my whole life, I have never met someone so proud of Canada. Everywhere in the world, it gets overlooked, and in Canada, people just talk about where their grandparents came from. I also believe that Canada is a great country, it's just that people don't take the time to look into it. I also didn't know your school had a long jump tournament/event.

  12. I have never really dreamed of being an olympian. I always thought that it would be too much pressure. But, If I were to participate in the olympics I would choose the summer Olympic games. In summer, I would participate in swimming since I have always been a strong swimmer and have done competitive swimming. I do watch the olympics, but haven't in the past 2 years since I didn't have cable for a while. I think that maybe there can be some people watching the olympics, but not too big of a crowd, just to be safe. I think I would be pretty disappointed if the Olympics were cancelled since it's been a while since I've last seen them.

    1. oooo I love swimming, and especially during the Olympics how fast the travel from side to side and how they manage to do backstroke and breaststroke with absolute ease like it was the easiest thing in the world.

  13. I've never wanted to be an olympic athlete because I'm not really into sports and I'm not a competitive person at all. If I were to participate I would probably snowboard in the winter games because it's the only sport I actually enjoy. I never watch the olympics because I honestly couldn't care less about them. If the games were to happen with no fans I think it would definitely be a different atmosphere and experience, but if no fans means it's safer then it's a better idea to have the olympics without them. Even if the olympics did get cancelled I would not care.

  14. I've never really dreamed of becoming an Olympic athlete cause I knew that I really did not poses any remarkable skill sets in any sports and because I was not really that interested in becoming one. This was my idealism of when I was younger but now I think I would actually want to participate in the summer Olympic games and I probably would want to play soccer cause soccer has been my favorite sport since I was in elementary. I used to always be in net at recess and play with some other kids and try to protect the ball from going in. To be honest, we were rough players and had no regard to injuries because we only had 15 min to play outside before classes started again. I remember the first time I watched the Olympics was when i was sleeping over at my grandmas house and the Olympics were on so we ran to the den to watch it. It was amazing to watch all the athletes in action. I'd be pretty disapointed if it were cancelled but seeing how were going with the pandemic I wouldn't be surprised if they did cancell it sadly but I still do wish they try doing it without any audience cause like queen said ¨The show must go on¨.

  15. To be honest, I would never dream of being an Olympic athlete because it would put a lot of pressure on me to be in shape and always practicing so I don’t fall behind. Also lots of people won’t even remember who you are so there is no point of being an Olympic athlete other than the money. I would prefer to participate in the summer Olympics as there are a lot more sports like football, soccer etc. A lot of winter Olympic games are just skating and it mainly revolves around that so it wouldn’t be as unique as all the other sports. I only watched the Olympics when I was young because it was much bigger and more amusing. Now we are seeing a bunch of our favorite athletes retire. I don’t really care if they happen or not because I probably won’t watch unless I'm bored and have nothing else to do which isn’t usually the case.

  16. I have never dreamed of being an olympic athlete but I would like to play for team canada in either the FIBA(Fédération Internationale de Basketball) world championships or the olympics. If I got the opportunity I probably would take it but it wouldn’t be something I would prioritize. I don’t really watch the olympics, I only watch if team USA is playing in basketball but even that i don’t watch all the time. Fans make everything better, if they do the olympics they should allow fans but not at full capacity. If the olympics were canceled I wouldn’t be disappointed because it’s not something I really care about.

  17. When I was really young I would’ve liked to be in the Olympics, but as I got older and thought more about it I realized that it wasn’t the path I wanted to take. I would probably participate in the Summer Olympics since I’m not that great in any winter sports. In the Summer Olympic Games, I would most likely play tennis since I’m better at it than any other sport. I probably wouldn’t get far, though. I love watching the Olympics with my whole family, we like betting on who will get the gold medal. I think the Olympic Games should happen, even if it won’t have the same atmosphere as it usually does. It might even help the performance of some contestants because they don’t have to deal with a distracting crowd. I would probably be disappointed if the Olympics got cancelled, but it would be nothing compared to all the athletes who have been training all this time just for it to get cancelled.

  18. I have never dreamed of being an olympic athlete. If I was in the olympics, I'd probably do downhill skiing or if it were the summer olympics I'd do sprinting. I dont really watch them. It depends if my mom makes me or not. I honestly don't realize they are happening unless someone tells me. I think they should have no fans in the bleachers. Zoom is a better option then crowds in the age of covid that we presently live in. I would be sad for the athletes but honestly wouldnt really care.

  19. When I was younger my parents enrolled me in almost every sport. I went pretty far in track and dreamed about being in the summer olympics when I was older. I dedicated a lot of my time to it but when it crowded my schedule I quit because I thought I was sacrificing too much. After the 2016 olympics I met an olympian and she let me hold her metal. It was really interesting to hear her journey to becoming an olympic athlete and I never realized how many sacrifices you have to make to be able to get to that level. Fans set the vibe and make sports better. They encourage the olympians. Without them it'd be very different. I think if they're limiting the amount of people they should allow the families of olympians to watch because they've sacrificed so much time away from their families to get there.

  20. When I was younger I was in a lot of sports, my athletic adventures varied from, tennis to soccer to basketball to skating then back to tennis and then track. I never really stayed fixated on one sport. When I started tennis I immediately fell in love with the sport, I would enter in every tournament that I could and I always told myself that I would always come back victorious. When I was around 10 my dream of going to the Olympics for tennis started but then I joined track and started to love that sport, that's when I realized that the Olympics were impossible if you haven't had experience from a young age. So now if I were to ever go to the Olympics it would be in the summer and for tennis, because I've been doing that for the longest time. I watch the Olympics whenever their on, that's my favorite thing to watch on tv, sometimes I rematch games or events just for the fun of it. I believe that the families of Olympians should be the only ones aloud to go.

If I had to choose between the winter Olympics and the summer Olympics, I would choose the summer one, and I would like to participate in tennis since that's the only sport I've done. I do watch the Olympics every four years because it's nice to see the athletes perform their best work from years of sacrifices. The games would be boring without fans, but due to Covid, I think it's best not to have that many people in the stadium or only allow the people who have been vaccinated to go. I believe the athletes would be very disappointed if they got canceled again.

  22. I've never dreamt of going to the Olympics, just because I'm not very good at sports. But if I ever did go I would definitely participate in the winter ones, since those are my favourite to watch. I think I would either ski or snowboard, I find I'm pretty decent at that. I really enjoy watching the snowboarding and figure skating ones since I find them so cool. I think that fans should be allowed to go if they've tested negative or gotten the vaccine, I think I would be a bit disappointed but not that much.

  24. Being in the Olympics is definitely a dream of mine ever since I was young. I would participate in the Winter Olympics as a goalie in hockey. I love watching the Olympics, especially hockey, but I like watching any sport in the Olympics like figure skating, gymnastics, running, etc. I think that the Olympics should still happen even with no fans because a lot of athletes have trained and prepared for the Olympics just for it to not happen? I would for sure be disappointed if the Olympics were cancelled, I always love watching the competition and all the different sports with my family.

  25. I havee not really dreamed of being an olympic athlete although, if I had the chance to participate in the olympics, I wouldn't hesistate to give it a shot. I would participate in handball, badminton, basketball and many others. I haven't watched the olympics in a while and I don't think I would this time. It has been too long since I have seen them so I doubt I would now. I think that the olympics should happen with fans because the athletes perform better knowing that they are being cheered on and it makes it more in interesting. I would be pretty dissapointed if they were cancelled because I still love sports and it would suck if the olympics didn't happen this year.

  26. I've never really dreamed of being an Olympic athlete. To me it always seemed like a lot of work for not much in return. Like sure having a world record can is great but it won't last for long. Plus your going into such a competitive field that you're pretty much assured to lose, and I think the athletes salary is based on their performances so if you have a bad day not only are you going to be humiliated in front of pretty much the whole world but you probably won't get paid much either. If I had to pick an event to participate in it would be something basic like tennis in the summer Olympics because all the other events seem really complex and dangerous. I don't think I've ever watched the Olympic games, the only things I've ever seen from them is some clips from good events and stuff like that. I think it's fine if they happen without fans. I mean if there were there would be people from all around the globe around thousands of other people, it would be a complete disaster. As I said I don't really watch the Olympics, so whether they happen or not I really don't care.

  27. Although I love sports I would never want to be an olympian athlete. It's a lot of training and doesn't really interest me. If I was an olympian athlete I would participate in the summer olympics to play tennis. I like watching the olympics but I don't watch the whole thing, just certain sports. I prefer the Winter Olympics because I love watching skiing, snowboarding and skating. My favourite countries in the olympics are Switzerland and Canada so I always enjoy watching them win.
