The OSCARS were presented last night.

OSCARS are awards for movies.

Imagine a world where NETFLIX, PRIME, DISNEY+ were non-existant!

Imagine that you had NO CELL PHONE and INTERNET was limited.

How would your pandemic experience be DIFFERENT?

Explain.

  1. I think that the pandemic would be very different for me. I feel like cell phones are really important right now in order to communicate with friends and family. When COVID first started and we were separated from all of our friends, I used my phone to talk to them, so without the internet, I wouldn’t have been able to maintain proper communication. During the pandemic, my family started paying for things like Disney+ and Prime, simply because we were so bored and in my opinion, Netflix does not have the best movie selection. In order to be entertained since there was nothing else to do, my family and I watched almost all of the Marvel movies and shows!

    2. I don't know about that. I don't have a cell phone, and I am surviving quite fine without one.

    3. I agree, Netflix does not have the best selection, I am more for Prime

  2. For sure the pandemic would be very different not just for me, but for everyone else. I think the only thing that is keeping us sane are our phones and tv's. The reason why is because we can facetime family memebers or friends and watching tv can go by fast and now is a good time to catch up on all your shows. To be honest, I think I've finished almost all of the Netflix shows I wanted to watch! My family and I have also in a way gotten closer with each other. Every Friday night, we have a movie night and I feel like before COVID, my family couldn't do that.

  3. This is basically how I live everyday. My parents limit my internet access to when I am doing homework, or when I play video games in the morning ( only on days off or weekends ). Plus, I don't own a cell phone, and My family doesn't own Prime video, or Disney+, or Netflix. I have been quite fine without any of these mediums of entertainment, and I can continue living without them as I have been for the past year. But I can't really imagine it being that much different, at least for me, because there are no shows I would like to watch, and I don't involve myself in social media.

    1. I kind of wish I never got Netflix, because of all the pointless hours it sucked from my life.

    2. Yeah I think anyone could survive not having these things.

  4. I believe that the pandemic would be very different not only for me and my family, but for many people. This is how we communicate, and we entertain ourselves, and even though we do many things other than technology, we would be lost. Yes, for the first couple of months, if there was no technology, we would play board games, we would do puzzles, but eventually, I guess I can say we would get bored. Even though it would be different, I cannot even think about it, as our internet DID help us over the pandemic break

  5. I think that the pandemic would have felt so much longer and much more boring without any TV or a way to contact friends. I'm pretty sure ive watched almost every show that Ive wanted to see and re watched some as well, I've also seen a crazy amount of movies. I feel like if there was no phones, then people would probably of gone outside to meet up with people, which would have made the pandemic last even longer. To be honest i'm not sure how long I could last without them and a limited internet, especially if there was nothing else to do.

  6. Without netflix and cell phones, the pandemic would have taken a much larger toll on people's mental health than it already has. It's difficult for me to imagine a world without computers and cell phones, mostly because I've lived my entire life with them but also because I spend so much of my personal time on devices. If the pandemic happened without netflix or cell phones, I most likely would have just picked up a more interesting hobby. The amount of time we've spent in isolation was good for rest and productivity. Without social media the pandemic definetly would have been a lot more different too, considering how many lies but also how much useful information spreads around it. I think that either people would have listened to the rules like wearing masks and socially distancing more, or the complete opposite, where they just completely wouldn't have listened and the pandemic would have gotten worse.

  7. Being on the internet, electronics and streaming has become such a normal part of our lives honestly I could not imagine my life without it. Although I think that the internet is quite toxic I don't know how I would have been able to last in the pandemic. Internet and social media is the easiest way to communicate with people outside of your family so without it I would have felt more lonely. I also spent a lot of time on Netflix and hbo, but I mean tv is still an option. The pandemic would have felt longer and more boring. I was already dying of boredom but talking to friends and watching my favourite shows helped me pass the time. Saying all that I know that if it really was a time with no internet, no phones and no streaming we would probably get along just fine because thats what we would have been used to.

  8. If I didn’t have my phone my pandemic experience would have been very different. I wouldn’t have been able to communicate with my friends and I probably would have been very bored. I don’t really watch movies or shows so not having Netflix or other streaming things wouldn’t have been a problem. No phone and not being able to talk to my friends would have driven me crazy. I played a lot of video games during the pandemic and with no internet I wouldn’t know what to do. People would have been bored out of their mind so people would have probably gone outside and broken the rules.

  9. It would be hard. Schooling wouldn't be as easily conducted because of limited internet. I think I would stop social distancing of boredom. It would be different because I would have now way of talking to my friends besides if I went to their house and then we have to be careful about COVID and all those shinanigans. Especially people living alone, they would really hate it, because they would have nothing to do at all, since their work would probably be closed. Mine would be bad friend-wise, but I'm pretty lucky to have a big family to spend time with.

    1. Schooling would definitely be a lot harder to manage with limited internet. Keep up the great work!

  10. If we are in a world where we know no different, while I would agree that we would get bored after a while, I don't think that's a bad thing. In fact, I think we would've profited more from a pandemic without internet. If we were in the pandemic knowing we don't have Netflix, Prime, etc. it would be absolutely terrible. Just like how I'm sure somewhere far in the future people will be wondering how we never got bored without this extra-cool new gadget. Being bored allows us to try and find new things to do, which can lead to good things, such as new hobbies and interests. However, it would be a lot harder to follow COVID guidelines without FaceTime. I don't know how school would've been, or if there would've been any school at all.

    1. You are absolutely right. Although it would seem like a pain now, if it were to happen it wouldn't be so bad.

    2. I agree, its not a bad thing but it would be a lot harder to follow covid restrictions.

  11. If we were in the same pandemic and we had no access to phones, video games, or television, our ways of keeping busy would be a lot more different. When I was in quarantine I mainly watch Netflix, played video games, try something that I've never tried or something old and play outside. If Internet and technology were less advanced at the time, I would probably spend about three quarters of my day outside, doing whatever crazy thing I felt like doing. I would try to spend all my days outside with friends doing whatever pops into our mind.

  12. I think this pandemic would be very different for everyone without cell phones because it is the only way to communicate with people at the moment. During the pandemic I actually talked with my friends more than I would have otherwise, without a way to communicate with them I don't know what I would do instead. Without internet or electronic devices I would probably stay in my room and draw or paint all day. I do not like board games and there is nothing to do outside alone so without a way to communicate with people outside of my household I would definitely stay in my room all day.

  13. The pandemic would be a LOT different without the ease of use with the internet and cellphones. People wouldn’t be able to communicate with each other and people would be so bored to do nothing at home. The internet saved us during this pandemic and without it, people would probably go crazy without it. It would probably increase the case count as people will probably go out more without caring. The pandemic would probably be much worse than it already is without cell phones or the internet.

    1. I didn't even think about communication, people would lose touch with all of their friends!

  14. My pandemic experience would have been extremely different than what it was. I believe that these distractions helped keep things as normal as possible and to keep kids distracted from what was really going around the world. I used my cell phone and the internet to communicate with friends and family, which was really important to me. I also relied on streaming services like Netflix and Prime to keep me entertained. If we didn’t have these things I probably would have spent most more time playing board games, doing puzzles and being outside.

  15. My pandemic experience would be very different if there was no netflix or cell phones. I don't think that I'm the type of person to be constantly on my phone or device, but I do watch tv and movies. I think in that aspect it would be different for me, but for the rest, I don't think it would change that much since I spent most of my time reading. If there were no cell phones or internet, I would just re-read books and spend some time outside.

  16. My pandemic experience would be so much different without netflix, internet, my phone etc. I have spent a lot of time on my phone, using internet, and watching shows and movies during the pandemic so I would have been so bored. I spent most of my time face timing my friends because we didn't weren't allowed to meet up so I think that if I didn't have the internet to face time quarantine would have felt so much longer.

  17. If I didn't have my phone throughout the pandemic I would've been extremely bored. I rarely watch tv so I would've been fine without that, but if I didn't have my phone or any internet I think I would've felt more isolated, sad and unmotivated. I already thought that quarantine was really long but talking to my friends always made me feel better. I couldn't imagine how long and draining it would've felt without that. Having no access to any electronic devices probably would've ruined many more peoples mental health than the pandemic already has.

  18. Even without the pandemic I think the internet plays a big role in society. They’re not just there for social media but also to allows family to communicate overseas, to also allow kids to do homework and much more. I can't even imagine how education, work and social life would even happen if there was little to no internet. In 98 they experience something like a pandemic but for not as long. There was an ice storm that cause 4 million power outages. Because of this everyone had to stay home with no electricity which includes television, heating and cooking utensils.

  19. It's hard to imagine our world without social media because so many things are limited without it but, with that being said, I don't think the pandemic would be that much different for me since I don't have Netflix, Disney+, or Prime. The cell phone had definitely became a huge part of me during the pandemic. It was the only thing that was entertaining and the only way to communicate with family and friends. I think my experience with pandemic would be really boring if I didn't have access to the internet because there's nothing to do, plus I couldn't go to places and enjoy life.

  20. If the internet was limited during the pandemic, I would play outside, clean rocks, walk and sing to my hearts content. Last summer, I spent the days cleaning my rocks so I think I could survive if I had to without the internet.

  21. I think if I didn't have a cell phone or internet my life would be very different. Especially during the pandemic since I use my phone more often to be able to talk to my friends and family. Without a phone id pretty much never see any other family than my parents and sister. I think i would get much more bored without prime, netflix and disney+. I got prime and disney + during the pandemic and it's a nice way to have a break from everyone being in the same house all day.

  22. If I didn't have a phone or internet in my life, it would drastically change. I wouldn't say I'm dependent on my phone but communication is a big part of life. As for tv, I don't really watch a lot of movies/tv shows so my life wouldn't change too much without it. Even during the first lockdown I spent most of my time outside. Once I moved into my new house we had gotten a movie theater room on the top floor I did very much enjoy watching movies and shows on it so now if you told me that I couldn't use that room anymore I'd be extremely disappointed but I would get over it.

  23. I think that without those things we would spend most of our pandemic experience outside enjoying nature, playing sports with family or playing board games. We would probably spend more times with our family having fun together, playing board games. For one my sis would not be stuck in her room all the time and would probably spend more time with my brother than she regularly does.My dad would finally go on a family walk with us because he wouldn't be stuck to the couch or on his phone and my mom would probably be the same.My little brother instead of bothering me and my sis would be occupied playing with us and the pandemic would ultimately be a learning experience to all of us to spend more time together.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am sure that my pandemic experience would be completely different because all I have been doing up until now is watch movies or shows and use the internet for gaming. I have gone outside a lot of times but definitely not enough to cover several months of pandemic time. I would be bored out of my mind, I use the internet constantly as well as my phone and my pandemic experience would be beyond terrible if I wasn't able to use those things. I would litteraly just be biking and swimming in my pool if it is a good day outside, but in the winter, I think I would actually just die of boredom. Just imagining my life without video games and watching TV is a sin and I never want to think about it again.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think that if we didn't have internet and other entertainment, then we would probably have other forms of entertainment in its place. All I know is that my pandemic would just change from doing stuff on my phone and computer to playing board games and going outside more. It would become normal. Im sure I wouldn't be that bored because I only got a phone last year and I was able to survive all that time without it. But then again, communicating with other people would be extremely difficult and that is why the pandemic would be a lot harder to survive
