I've had two jobs before; babysitting and working at my uncles office. Babysitting was very tiring and it drained all my energy. Working at my uncles office was easy because all I had to do was pass out papers and file them. The benefits of working a job is that you get paid and it'll look good on your CV. Also, you will gain a lot of experience. The downfalls of having a job is that it can drain lots of energy and you won't have a lot of free time. Yes I think that teenagers should work and learn about responsability because it can teach us life-long work skills and it'll help us in the future.
I had a job last summer where I babysat 2 kids. I went to their house 3-4 times a week. The benefit of this job was that I got a lot of experience and we went outside a lot, so I also got exercise. A downfall of having a job, especially in the summer, would be not being able to see friends and not always being free, but last summer was a good time to have a job because I couldn't go see my friends either way. I think that teenagers should learn about responsibility and how to handle money, because it will benefit them in the future.
I had a job, and in fact I am currently still working, but only on the weekends. I am a ski instructor at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, and I teach people how to ski (all ages). The benefits of working a job is of course the money you get per hour, but also the socialization. This summer, I want to work at the Sommet Saint-Sauveur Waterslide, and since Im already in communication with the head of hiring, I already have the job. I also meet new ski instructors, and I'm friends with many of them. One downfall to a job is whether you like it or not. If you have a job you have but you dot like, it will make it many times worse, as you would rather be literally anywhere else than the job itself. I believe teenagers should absolutely learn to be responsible and smart with their money. That is one thing not taught in school which is very important for you adult life. It could make or break you, as how you manage your money will decide your future.
I had a job working in my aunts office. I was responsible for designing forms and organizing patient files. It was pretty simple stuff, but it had good benefits. Well, first you get paid which is nice but you also get to interact with new people everyday. I met a lot of nice people that I never would have know if I didn't have that job. I think the main downfall with having a job would be the stress that you gain and the time that you need to put in. It can just get very tiring. I think teenagers should have a job. It's good to experience that kind of responsibility for the future.
I have had a minimum wage job before. It was during march break and I sat in a room with two of my friends where we had piles upon piles of papers and files that we needed to sort through and take staples out of them so that people could run them through a machine that would scan it. The benefits of having a job is well, money. Also its great to have experience for possible other jobs. Also if you live independently then its kind of important. The downsides are that it can be tiring and stressful and it sucks up almost all your free time. I think think that its good to have experience with money and responsibility for teenagers because as soon as I got that pay check I spent half of it. But then again I think that if you're young you should have a lot of free time and do things that you wont have enough time to do when you're older, and having a job would take up this free time.
Mowing lawns may not exactly count as job experience, but it brings in the cash. Other than that, I have had basically no jobs. I do have my eyes on certain places, though, as soon as I become old enough to actually be able to work at those locations. Benefits of jobs are the money, unless the employers are trying to scam you, and I suppose a social environment? Social skills as in learning how to talk to people you have never met will be quite important later on in life. Downsides are stress, exhaustion, takes up free time, no time for playing Halo, and some people become more irritable. It can affect mental health in a very negative way. Teenagers should be able to have jobs, but they shouldn't be pressured into getting one by their parents. They should be able to find a job they like, and on their own time.
One year I worked at a pool canteen in the summer, I got payed like 5 dollars an hour and the work was not bad considering I was 12. I think having a job makes you feel useful and helps you learn how to have pride in the work you do. Working, weather thats working at mcdonalds or working as a doctor makes you feel good and makes you feel useful and purposeful. It feels good to be able to pay for your own clothes and food. Working as a teenager could make your life more stressful and leave less time for having fun with friends but employers don't give long shifts to teenagers so it's not like you don't have anytime to do those things. Not everyone has the time to have a job though, because of sports, other activities and mental health. I really think that it is important for teenagers to have jobs because of all the important things a job will teach you. One of the best ways to learn about money management and responsibly do come from working.
I never had a job but one time a family friend's dog walker was on vacation so they asked me to walk their dog. It was really fun since I got payed $20 an hour to just walk and play with their dog. I felt really useful and happy I was able to help. Some of the benefits of having a job are that you get rewarded for the work you do. If you have a fun job like I did you wouldn't be annoyed and bored at work. You'd enjoy what you're doing and get payed for having fun. Some downfalls are that not everyone is lucky enough to work at a job they like so that can cause stress. Especially in the summer, teenagers want to hang out with their friends, they might feel too tired to do so and spend most of their time unmotivated at work.
If I'm going to be completely honest, I have an on and off job. Its at my dads office/warehouse where I get to load trucks and lift heavy boxes or file papers and make reports. Now what I mean by on and off is that my dad doesn't let me go all the time, either its once a week or once a month, so it really depends when I'm going to go and when I'm not. I really like the job and it's giving me experience for the future, so that's great.
I've never had a really job because I was never really given the opportunity to have one.I did come close to having one once but that same summer n my cousins were coming so my mom told me to forget about it.I think that the benefits of having one is that you learn a sense of structure, repetition, respect, responsibility and confidence knowing that you accomplished something, that you were working alongside people using teamwork to accomplish one essential purpose and that you yourself is responsible for fulfilling a part of that system to achieve the purpose. the downfall of having a job is probably that you have to work instead of having fun and enjoying life, it can even take away from your studies and make you fall behind. I think that teenagers shoud work because it shows them that saving money can help you achieve and reach the things you want, that patients is key.
My dad gave me a job over the summer, I helped with renovations in his building, I got paid less than minimum wage which I’m still a little mad about but I still made enough money to buy stuff I wanted. I think that the only benefits of having a job is that you get money, or if you have nothing to do all day it gives you somewhere to go. The biggest downfall of having a job for me is that it takes up most of the day so if you have a job there is less time to see friends and do things you like. Most jobs are also very boring and not something you look forward to going to. I don't think teenagers should work, there are tons of other ways to learn about money and I think they already have enough responsibility with school.
I've worked at a bunch of different places but i don't know if I would consider any of them a job. I've worked at a warehouse a couple times, cut grass, babysat, but I think my favourite is working at a farm. Some benefits are obviously getting paid, but one of my favourite parts was just being able to get out of my house all day. I personally can't think of any downfalls that I experienced because of a job, but I guess one would be having less time to hang out with friends or not be able to go on vacation if you're working. Where I worked it's always been super flexible, I even brought one of my friends with me a few times since we wanted to hang out but I had to work, it made it a lot more fun. I definitely think that working is a great way to learn about responsibility and money since it teaches you how to manage all the money you make and if you want to spend it then how to spend it responsibly.
I personally have never had a real job. I do want to get a small job in a few year so that I can make a little income. The benefits of having a job would be to make money of course, but also you learn how to manage your time, and learn about what it's like to have a job so it prepares you for the future. I think that the downfalls of a job would be that you have a lot less time for schoolwork if you're still in school, hanging out, etc. Another downfall would be that jobs can be very stressful sometimes. Yes, I think that teenagers should learn about responsibility and money because it will help a lot for the future.
I have never had a real job before. I helped out at my mom's office during the summer, but since I never got paid, I wouldn't consider it as a real job. The benefit of having a job is definitely the money and the experiences you gain every time you work in order to prepare you for the future. I think the downfalls of having a job are that you have less time to enjoy your life and, having a lot of responsibilities, which could be stressful sometimes. I think working is a good way for teenagers to learn about responsibilities and how to manage money because these things will come in handy in the future.
I've never had a job or even an opportunity to have one. I always felt like I didn't need to rush into finding one because I don't buy a lot of stuff anyways. That being said, I would have probably liked to have a job and will most likely find one this summer. I believe that there are many important benefits to having a job, the main one being, of course, getting money. Another important benefit is being in a social setting throughout the day, meeting new people and creating new relationships in this new environment. The downfalls of having a job would be that you wouldn't have as much time to spend with friends or family, unless they also have jobs. Another downfall would be that you could be working a job you don't like, which happens more at a younger age because of the lack of experience. Teenagers should definitely learn about responsibility and money before they get into the real world, it's like studying for a test.
I’ve never had a real job before but when I am old enough I would love to. I have babysat for children though. The benefits of having a job is making money and gaining experience for future jobs. They are also great because you get to make new friends and meet new people. The downfalls are that they take up a lot of time and you have to be committed. I definitely believe teenagers should learn about responsibility and money. I think these are some of the most important skills you need to learn in life and the earlier we learn the better.
I have never had a real job, therefore, I don’t really know what it feels like. There are surely benefits to working a job, and that is learning and experience. A job can teach you about hard work and effort as well as discipline. I would say that there the only downfalls of working a job is working a job you don’t enjoy, because then you are jot having fun while working. Teenagers should work to learn about money and responsibility because those two aspects are important in life and our understanding of how the world works.
I can't say that I've had an official job yet, meaning that I get a paycheck every 2 weeks, and that I'm signed up for it. Although I've had odd jobs kind of like Rex Walls, finding ways to make money doing little things for neighbors, the classic... The downfalls of having a job is that it's obviously not as fun as playing with friends and family in the summer, and travelling to your job can also be a nuisance. I think that every kid is different when it comes to money responsibility, so I personally wouldn't say that every kid should have a job for that reason, although it definitely makes you feel the true worth of money. There are other main benefits though such as building discipline, giving yourself a purpose, and it looks good on a CV.
I have had two job before. Referring soccer games and babysitting kids on my street. The majority of these jobs happen during the summer. I mean the main benefit of working is obviously getting paid but other than that you also can learn some very valuable life skills such organization and responsibility. It is honestly horrible to have to grow up and start working during your summers off. I think as long as the teenager can handle working, school and extracurricular activities it is fine for them to learn responsibility and the value of making money.
I've never worked a real job before but I do think it's important for teenagers to eventually get a job no matter if it's being a lifeguard or working at a fast food place. I think that having work experience at a younger age will help most people get jobs easier later in life and in general be useful it also helps that having extra money as a teenager is always great. A lot of people may argue that teenagers should spend their time enjoying life and playing outside but in my eyes getting a job in the summer instead of doing nothing is much more productive and will help more people out.
I have never had a job before but I do occasionally help my dad work by bringing him water or food, though I don't get paid. The benefits of working are being paid and having a job makes you feel important. Some downfalls of a job though are having to wake up at a precise time and commute to the place of work. You also have less time to enjoy the sun and summer weather (unless you work outside). You are also not free to play with friends outside or swim in a pool. Personally the downfalls outweigh the benefits (also i'm not that money motivated). Sure it's important to learn responsibility and money management but I think kids (and teens) can learn the same skills by observing their parents and asking their parents about what they do.
I have had a job in the past with my dad’s business. Every summer, I would go to my dad’s little workshop of t-shirts, and organize the t-shirts around the place and print stickers onto the shirts. It was a textile job for supplying tourist shops with shirts for souvenirs. The job was long, but wasn’t that hard. My paycheck would be a Basha plate every lunch we had when I was at work. Jobs are good if you are in a good environment. Sadly we had no air conditioning, so it was pretty hard working in sweat, but it was worth it. I didn’t receive any physical money, as it was all spent on food, but I didn’t really care because I know it is better for my dad to keep the money for his business than with me. Although I believe teenagers should learn how to manage money as it is a vital skill to learn in our society. It is also complicated.
I did have a job last summer babysitting for some kids in my neighborhood. I used to bring them to their pool and watch them during the day. The benefits of a job are you get money and you can become a more responsible person. The downfalls of having a job are that it's very tiring and you do not have as much free time. Yes, i think teenagers should work to learn about responsibility and money because it can help us in the future.
I have done lots of jobs around the house for my mom. Last summer I worked at a camp for little kids but it was just volunteer work. However, this summer I'll be a paid staff member of the camp. I think it is very important for any teenager to start a job at a young age. The benefits to a paying summer job is that it teaches you to manage money, responsability, and best of all to not always have to rely on your parents. A disadvantage to a summer job is that you have less time with friends, you can always be tired (if you work 7hrs+ a day like me), and most of the time you're taking public transport to and from work.

DeleteYeah, having a job at an early age can have a big impact in the future. Great blog!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree that schools should teach important classes that could be used as an adult. Really good blog!
DeleteI had a job working in my aunts office. I was responsible for designing forms and organizing patient files. It was pretty simple stuff, but it had good benefits. Well, first you get paid which is nice but you also get to interact with new people everyday. I met a lot of nice people that I never would have know if I didn't have that job.
ReplyDeleteI did have a job last summer babysitting for some kids in my neighborhood. I used to bring them to their pool and watch them during the day. The benefits of a job are you get money and you can become a more responsible person. The downfalls of having a job are that it's very tiring and you do not have as much free time. Yes, i think teenagers should work to learn about responsibility and money because it can help us in the future.
ReplyDeleteI have done lots of jobs around the house for my mom.
