There has been much discussion about re-starting extra-curricular activities!
Do you feel that schools should re-start extra-curricular activities?
Would you participate in any of the extra-curricular activities should they resume?
What are some of the concerns about starting extra-curricular activities again?
Are you hoping that ALL extra-curricular activities resume next year, including trips?
Explain.

Yes I feel like schools should re-start extra-curricular activities since so many of us want to do something other than school at school. I would participate in the extra-curricular acrivites, mostly something to do with sports. A concern about starting up these activites could be that most sports won't be able to start up since they started in the fall. It would be unfair to others. And finally, I hope all extra-curricular activites resume because we all need to experience high school like past students have.
ReplyDeleteI hope they start up again too. Great blog!
DeleteI feel like schools should restart extracurricular activities because all students have been doing since the pandemic started was school. I feel like students need a brake from math class and to go outside and play sports. I would love to start up sports again from an escape from school. The things I am most concern about is how many people will participate. A Lot of people have quit sports all together. The things I am most excited for once the pandemic is over is travelling. My family has already started planning trips for when it's over.
ReplyDeleteIm excited to travel too, great blog
DeleteI think it'd be good if schools start doing extra curricular activities again because I know a lot of my friends enjoyed doing them. If they started again I wouldn't join any because i'm already really busy with dance. I know a lot of people can't do their sport right now so I'm lucky I have a space to do it at home. Starting to have trips again would be fun because I haven't been on an exciting field trip since elementary school. It might be difficult though because different places have certain guidelines you need to follow so going on field trips won't be the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree, if we will be able to go on trips, we will need to follow different regulations, so the trip will be different. Great Blog!
DeleteI think it would be great to re start extra curricular activities, students have been stuck inside basically for the past year and it would be great to start getting us back into our usual habits. If they do re open these extra curricular activities I will be sure to participate, I am always so bored and I feel lazy. My concern is that its too late in the year, its almost April and I know a lot of kids are already looking forward to the summer. I also think there will be a lack of participation due to a lot of kids losing motivation. There would also be a mixing of bubbles and that would kind of defeat the whole purpose of trying to keep everyone safe.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is a bad time to start the activities again, especially in this time of year. Great blog!
DeleteI think it would be great if extracurricular activities started again, but I don't think it would be the best choice. People are still not sure about Covid and have parents that are cautious, so I'm not exactly sure how many would join. But it'd also be great to have some normalcy again and to have things to do to fight the boredom. I don't think I would join the extracurricular because I don't want to expose myself and my family to different people, just in case. I do hope that all activities and trips resume next year. I really don't want to spend another year being so secluded.
ReplyDeleteI also think that reopening extra-curricular activities would help cure some people boredom.
DeleteI agree, starting extra cuticular activities would bring back a sense of normalcy. Great blog
DeleteI believe that it would be a good idea, as many people could not be able to do any sports during the covid, and this will make a lot of people happy. I will most likely join theses extra-curricular just not at the start, as I would want to see first if its safe. Some concerns I have would be about masks. I suspect that most sports will say no masks, as it will be harder to breath. With that in mind, covid could have another wave, which everybody does not want to happen. I would for sure want trips to be allowed, as I would love to go to Europe next year, even if thats possible. Im not sure if all sports should re-open, just the ones that can be played with a mask
ReplyDeleteI agree, a concern I would also have would be about masks. Great blog!
DeleteYeah going to europe would be cool.
DeleteI think that extra-curricular activities should start as soon as possible to give people a chance to try and go back to what school used to be like. I myself would only be interested in rugby but there are definitely many other people that would like the activity they participate in to start back up too. The one thing that I only realized now is that people don't get to go on school trips now I had never planned on going to this years one but for the people graduating it must be really annoying that their grad trip got cancelled because of all of this. I do understand that with reopening anything their are risks but anything has a risk that something bad could happen so why don't we open everything and let the people who want to stay away from everyone and lock themselves inside do it and let the rest of us enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteI believe that re-starting extracurricular activities would be very beneficial for students' physical and mental health but I wouldn’t start them up right now. We should wait for more people to get vaccinated so that we can prevent the spread of the variant and a third wave. Personally, I wouldn’t join in on the extracurricular activities yet because I think it’s still too soon and I wouldn’t want to expose myself to so many people. I hope that next year when most people are vaccinated we will be able to go on school trips and that all extra curricular activities will resume. This would bring a sense of normalcy back.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the activities would be very beneficial to students health! Great blog.
DeleteI think we should start these activities later to prevent the spread of covid.
DeleteI think that the school should re establish extra curricular activities as long as they take the right precautions because I really want something to do like play a sport or maybe a club to join. I would probably join them as soon as they announce it but I still don't know if they have any restrictions or if they'll even offer what I want to join. The number one concern I think for every one is covid, because no one wants to get sick and if youre doing an activity with several people from different class bubbles then the odds are a lot higher. I would really like field trips or other trips to resume as well, because I find it fun to just not do school and go somewhere with friends and classmates. Also we havent had one in a long time.
ReplyDeleteYou are wrong. Re-opening activities is stupid, and to find out why, read My blog.
DeleteI feel like schools should restart extra-curricular activities because we haven't had them in a really long time and I feel like more people would be interested in them. I would probably try out for the volleyball team or any other sports team that interests me. A concern about starting the activities near the end of the year would be that maybe kids wouldn't want to stay after school, instead they would want to go hang out with friends in the nice weather. It would be great if all activities resumed, but there would be a higher chance of there being more cases if we mix bubbles together.
ReplyDeleteI agree, people would probably want to hang out more with summer being so soon, great blog!
Deletei agree, the cases might rise if we mix bubbles. great blog!
Deletei think schools bringing back extra curricular activities is a good idea. We missed an entire year of being able to participate in those kids of things and now we should restart them. i might join the swimming team but i would mostly just participate in school outings and field trips. i think the biggest concern of this would be that you would be exposing people outside their bubbles and cases would spread more easily. especially since now the classes are merging back together everything's going to be a lot more cramed and may increase covid numbers. i don't mind if they all go back though because what's important is limiting spread so we can have a better summer.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that re-starting extra curricular activities because covid cases in our region are still very high and I think these activities will only increase the cases. I will not be doing extracurricular activities at school because none of them have ever interested me and I rather be doing other activities. A lot of extracurricular activities in our school are sports and I think these activities can spread covid very easily. I do hope that by next year everything will be back to normal and all activities will be able to resume.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, it's a bad idea to re-star the activities. Great blog!
DeleteI do not think that re-opening extra-curricular activities is a good thing. People from outside of your bubble will be able to join the same activities as you, and then that increases chances of catching the virus. The entire point of the bubble, which was to confine people together so it couldn't spread to others, is defeated by opening up extra-curricular activities. I am actually interested in joining the DnD club, because I want to learn how to properly play the game, instead of what I just know now, which is really little. Field-trips are an even worse idea than extra-curricular activities, because now we are exposing students to other people who may have already contracted the virus. It increases our chances of getting covid significantly more than just with extra-curricular activities.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! I just don't understand how people can think that it's a good idea.
DeleteI couldn't agree more. There's no way that restarting activities now will be a good thing.

ReplyDeleteHonestly I wish I could say that I think that schools should open extra-curricular activities, except COVID is not slowing down, were going into a third wave and I just don't think were ready for it yet. Yea, I'm sure I would participate in some of the activities, I think it's important to do something that occupies your body. As far as my concerns... COVID. Yes, I'm praying that the activities do come back next year, because next year I don't want to have to see another mask again, I just want things to go back to normal.
I would like it if the school started extra curricular activities because I miss doing them at school. In sec 1 and 2 during some lunches we would be able to go to the gym and play basketball. That's the only one I would do unless you count school sports teams. I would obviously join the basketball team because it’s not that hard for me to play on my city team, play on a school team and manage school, it’s actually fun because I’m always busy. I don’t really have concerns, I’ve had the opportunity to go to some gyms during the winter to play basketball and it was run really smoothly and nobody got covid from it. If you take precaution and make sure everybody is safe then extra curricular activities could work. I want the extracurricular activities to start again next year including field trips because they're fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a good idea for the school to re-start extra-curricular activities because we are still in the red zone, and mixing people from different bubbles would only make the virus spread faster. I would love to participate in some activities, mostly field trips because it's always fun to travel. I think it would be hard for the sports teams to resume since a lot of sports require physical contact, and wearing a mask would make it harder for the athletes to breathe. I hope that all extra-curricular activities would resume next year because the pandemic has been too long, and we need something to lighten up our mood.
ReplyDeleteI want them to start extra-curricular activities again, but I think that since we are still in the red zone I wouldn't start them this year and just wait until next year. I would participate in some if they started again, just because it would be nice to do something different and I have nothing better to do. I feel like if we start the activities again, their might be more covid cases and they would spread faster, and also a lot of the sports people wouldn't want to or be able to wear a mask while playing. Out of all the activities, trips excite me the most so I definitely hope they will start again as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I wouldn't resume them until next year
DeletePersonally, I wouldn't start extra-curricular activities because Covid will spread even more. I want them to re open but for health measures I wouldn't. If extra-curricular activities re open I would probably participate because it has been boring with nothing to do and I miss playing sports. I think that if next year once people get vaccinated and if Covid stops spreading so quickly then hopefully the activities will resume.
ReplyDeleteAt this time it too dangerous to join
DeleteI agree.
DeleteI think that if ever we are to resume extra curricular activity's that only the outdoor activities should resume because it's safer to prevent the spread of covid but even outdoor activities could be dangerous because the number of people playing on the field can augment the risk of physical contact. If it were to resume I would maybe participate depending on the risks there are but if I were to resume I would choose to do soccer because I've been interested and playing soccer since elementary.Honestly I hope that they do resume extracurricular activities because I haven't gotten the chance to join them yet and I want to try it out for the first time.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, but I still disagree. I find that we should keep the mesures up now so that we can end this pandemic quicker.
Deletei personnally think that restarting extra-curccicular activities is a bad idea because covid will disagree with me and i'd love that. i'd see if there were art ones or maybe noncompetive basketball. some concerns that come with re opening extra-curccicular activities is covid cases could rocket since people would be close to each other and not in the samed bubble. also they would probably allow masks off breaks. no i dont really want them to return next year.
ReplyDeleteI always liked extracurricular activities but I still do not think they should start them back up again this year. I feel that it is still way too early to bring back these activities. I think we should at least wait until we become an orange zone to start extracurricular activities once again. Although I say this, I have always been a big fan of extracurricular activities. I always loved to try and join a couple of teams or clubs a year. These are a great way to release stress while still in school. I really hope that next year gets better and they do open up activities once again. I really want to join some sports team as well as go on the best trip afford in all of high school, the Europe trip.
ReplyDeleteI also can't wait for the Europe trip! I love the points you made in your blog, Anthony.
DeleteI don't think that extracurricular activities should open up because there's only a few months of school left and it would definitely spike the COVID cases in our school. We would have to mix bubbles and I don't feel that it's worth it, because we've been respecting regulations the whole year and I don't want to throw it all away now. I wouldn't join any extracurricular activities because it would increase the chances of me getting COVID. Many people don't want extracurricular activities to resume because of the reasons stated above, but I think next year when everyone gets vaccinated I sincerely hope everything resumes because it would make the year more enjoyable, especially considering we have the Europe trip next year.
ReplyDeleteI like your reason of not joining extracurricular activities ;). Great blog!
DeleteI believe schools should restart extracurricular activities as it gives students the potential to know each other other than their classroom and school environment. I can’t really participate in extracurricular activities because I have to take the bus home because my parents work and don’t have time to pick me up. The concerns about extra curricular activities is that there will be a lot of contact with each other and that can spread COVID. Students will also beg to do these activities without masks especially sports since it is hard to exercise with a mask. It would be great that extracurricular activities resume next year for others, and I would certainly love trips, those are super interesting and important for our education.
ReplyDeleteI think that now that we're so late into the year there's no real point of restarting extra curricular activities. I think that the risk wouldn't be worth the reward. If they did restart, I doubt that I would join any club, the only thing I would consider is football but I'm pretty sure that that's out of the question at this point. Next year however I really hope that extra curricular activities have been restarted and we can go back to normal school life.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it is too far into the year to start them up now.
DeleteI feel that restarting extracurricular activities would be useless to start right now because of the fact that we are already so far into the year. I would participate for field trips but nothing else because it would just be too much of a risk. I think that there would be too many COVID cases should the extracurricular activities resume. They are just too low a priority to worry right now and we should instead focus on lowering cases in our current situation. I do hope that they start up again only if it is safe because if it isn't, then no one would participate. I wish that they could start up although, it would be better to hold them off for now until further notice.
