Today, March 17, is St. Patrick's Day!
For the second year in a row, the St. Patrick's Day Parade has been cancelled.
Have you ever attended a St. Patrick's Day Parade or any other parade?
Do you believe in LUCK?
Do you feel that you are a LUCKY or UNLUCKY person?
Explain.
I have never attended a parade but one day I would like to go to one. I believe in luck to a certain extent. I believe that winning the lottery and winning a card game is pure luck. I also believe that you have to make your own luck. You have to put yourself in a position to get lucky and you can’t expect for something good to happen if you don’t take action. I don’t feel like a lucky person. Whenever there are draws for prizes I never win them.
ReplyDeleteYou should attend a parade when they start back up again it's really fun.
DeleteI am not very lucky either. Good blog.
DeleteI've been to the St. Patrick's twice now and both times have been when I did drumline in my elementary school. Both times were great and really did enjoy doing it. Now I want to talk about luck, I don't believe that luck is real I think that every decision you make will eventually lead you to your future meaning that there is no luck and that you can control everything about your future. This also means that I don't think that I'm lucky or unlucky I do think that sometimes I lack proper decision making which could lead to bad things.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds cool that you were in the parade! Great blog.
DeletePersonally, I've never been to a St-Patrick's day parade but it would be cool to go to one. I have been to other parades like the ones on Canada day and during pride week. I don’t neccassarily believe in luck but, I feel like everything happens for a reason. For example if you win a lottery ticket, I feel like you were destined to get that exact ticket at that exact time. I think things were just meant to happen for a reason. I consider myself both lucky and unlucky. To me, it depends on the day. Some days, I might be super lucky but on others, I'm unlucky.
ReplyDeleteI've also been to a Canada Day parade! Good blog.
DeleteWhen Covid clears up, you should really go to a parade. Great blog!
DeleteI have not attended a St. Patrick’s day parade, but I think it would be fun. A parade that I’ve been to was the “Carnaval de Québec” in Quebec City. My grandma lives on the street of the parade, so we go see her almost every year. I’ve also been to a Canada day parade in Ottawa. I don’t really believe in luck, but in some situations I do, such as if someone wins a lottery ticket, it was 100% luck. I personally don’t know if I am a lucky or unlucky person when it comes to some things. Sometimes I end up being really lucky, but other times I’m not.
ReplyDeletei think winning the lottery is pure chance as well. great blog!
DeleteMy dad has been buying lottery tickets for more than 10 years and he's never won, I probably inherited that from him.
DeleteOver the years, I've attended many st-patrick's day parades. It's a big thing in Hudson, where I used to live, so every year we would gather around a have some fun with friends. It sucks that we couldn't do the parade for the past 2 years since I really enjoy it. I'm not sure I believe in luck, I know people can get lucky with winning prizes or lottery tickets, but I don't think there is luck in everyday life. But, when it comes to winning prizes, I'm very lucky. I somehow always get picked or awarded the prize.
ReplyDeleteIf you're that lucky, then you should buy a lot of lottery tickets.
DeleteI've never been to the parade but it sounds like fun. Great blog
Deletesounds fun! nice blog!
DeleteYes almost every year I attend the parade, I was even in it once. I would go with my family and we would watch them play bagpipes and I would think to myself what a strange strange instrument. Its just a bag with pipes and it makes a honking noise like a goose. I was able to be in the parade once because of the st.thomas drumline. It was very very cold and we needed to walk for like 2 hours but it was a good experience. I only believe in luck when im having a really good day or bad luck if my day is crap. I feel that I have more good days than bad days. I know that liam is a leprechaun so he probably has good luck
ReplyDeleteYeah being in a parade is hard. Great blog!
DeleteYou have been almost every year! That is cool, I have never been to one, maybe I will go next year if it isn't cancelled.
DeleteI have never attended a St. Patrick’s Day Parade, as my family never participate in a parade or really any public gatherings. Although I have been a part of many parades before COVID struck because I am a cadet so I get to be alongside the army soldiers. I have been a part of the remembrance day parades and they have been very hard as our cadet corps does 2 parades and one of the parades I passed out, since it was very cold that day. Luck is something that I casually believe in as luck is something that is fun and can be super useful sometimes. I think everyone believes in luck. I feel that I am a lucky person as I live in a place and in a good school compared to other parts of the world.
ReplyDeleteYou must not have a lot of fun, if you've never been to a parade.
DeleteI have attended many, many St. Patrick's Day parades before, and I certainly do miss them. They are always very fun, with everything being green, and everyone enjoying themselves. This is partly because my father is almost completely irish, and it is a relatively big deal to him. Do I believe in luck? Sometimes. What I mean by this is if a lot of coincidences happen all at once, then yeah, that is luck. Like, someone wins the lottery, finds the cure to cancer, and then discovers a whole new part of the ocean floor from his private yacht, all in one day. That person is extremely lucky. But bad luck doesn't entirely exist, at least to me, because if something bad happens to a person, it is usually that person's fault. I am neither lucky or unlucky. Bad things don't usually happen to me, but good things don't usually happen to me either.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thought process on luck, hope you get lucky soon!
DeleteI have never attended a St. Patrick's day parade because no one in my family is interested in that kind of thing. I have never been to a parade and I never want to go to one because I don't like being in loud crowded spaces at all. I do believe in luck because in completely random things that require no skill luck is the only thing that determines one success or failure. I am not a very lucky person, I would go so far as to say that I am actually very unlucky. Every time I play card games or board games with my friends I always get the worst cards and almost never win.
ReplyDeleteI have never attended a St. Patrick's Day parade or any parade for that matter. I don't like them very much and would never want to go to one. I do believe in luck however, I think that luck is a factor in everything in life. I would say that my luck stat is five out of ten. Sometimes I am really lucky, and sometimes I couldn't have worse luck. I really think that everyone has luck and that some people are luckier than others, because how else can you explain the lottery? There is luck everywhere and I would say that I am probably less lucky than the average person.
ReplyDeleteParades suck.
Deletei once went to a st patrick's day parade downtown in the fourth grade, it was really fun and i got to eat lots of chocolate. Other than that though i've only been to the disney parades that disney has at the end of each day and that's pretty much it. i enjoy parades now but i couldn't take them as a kid because of how loud they were. i do believe in luck and i would say that i'm pretty lucky, things that i think about a lot i usually end up getting out of pure chance. in my family jade is a symbol of luck and my mom has a lot of it so ive started to carry it with me.
ReplyDeleteNice blog! you are lucky for having luck
DeleteI never knew about jade being a symbol of luck, great blog!
DeleteI have never been to a st Patricks day parade nor am I planning on it. My parents usually just go to an Irish pub with their friends and drink so I stay home and treat it like any other day. In fact I don't really like parades at all. If I wanted to go to an event with loud noise, lots of people, music and sweat I would just go to a rave. I don't know if I believe in luck, I think that everything happens for a reason but luck is something different and I don't know if I believe in it. If luck is real then I don't think I have much, I always end up in situations with the worst luck. I don't want to say that unlucky things happen to me often because that doesn't have anything to do with luck thats just me not using my brain but I would definitely take more luck if you gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteMy parents go to the pub too. Great blog!
DeleteMy mom is irish so every year we go to the parade and watch everyone. One year she was even in it from a competition she won. St. Patrick's day isn't a really big deal to me but for the mom and grandparents it is. My father, my sister and I usually go to the Irish pub and we would have dinner there. Most years they have a live band playing so we would listen to the play. I do believe in luck because a lot of the time the odds are against you but you still end up getting what you want. Personally, I don't really feel like a lucky or unlucky person it just all depends on the day.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a St-Patrick's day parade in my life. I don't even know what the things about, other than maybe some leprechauns and a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I don't really believe in luck. I think that everything that happens is random and no one can be lucky or unlucky. If I had to say if I were lucky or unlucky, I'd say I'm a pretty lucky guy. A lot of things go my way based on nothing but sheer chance.

ReplyDeleteI've been a parade once, it was the independence day parade for my home country Barbados. My mom really wanted us to experience it and it was really fun. I was really young so I don't remember most of it but from the videos i've seen I would definitely go again because parades are fun. I believe in luck, anyone can have luck. I also think there's ways people can increase their luck by manifestation, or symbols and things that represent their culture. I don't consider myself a very lucky person because almost every time I enter a sneaker raffle I lose.
ReplyDeleteSadly I don't remember attending any of the St Patrick's day parades, although my mom says that we went when I was a baby. For luck, I wouldn't say I believe in luck I would say that I believe in it but only under certain circumstances. There an expression saying "you make your own luck", I like this expression because it's basically saying there is luck but you can affect it heavily. Although if your playing a card game like war, that is almost pure luck that decides who is going to win.
ReplyDeletetruly agree with you that luck can be a misleading term, great blog.
DeleteI have never been to a St. Patrick's Day parade, I find parades boring in general. I am an extremely superstitious person, and therefore yes I believe in luck, and i do the best I can to get the best luck possible. So far I'd say that I've had a very lucky life, ever since the beginning, to start off, I live in Canada, which is one of the safest locations in the world right now, we have not had a war on our turf since 1812, we also have one of the highest education and success rates, along with beautiful lands, and a rich history of always being the good guys. Of course there are some things we are not proud of, and I am not putting those down, but the good outweigh the bad. On top of that there are many lucky scenarios in my life, such as when I almost fell off a cliff, in France, but was luckily stopped by my mother, and, when in California, we left a store just 30 minutes before a shooting, which killed 20 people occured. yes I am lucky, and was it not for my luck outweighing my stupidity, I should very well like to believe I would not be here today.
ReplyDeleteVery well-written blog, Callan! I didn't know you almost fell off a cliff.
DeleteI haven't been to a St. Patrick's day parade that I remember, but apparently I went when I was around two years old. If I had the opportunity, I think I would enjoy going to it. As for luck, I'd like to talk about the story "The Chinese Farmer" by Alan Watts. There was once a chinese farmer, who's horse had ran off. The neighbors all gathered around the farmer and said "Aw. That's so unfortunate," and the farmer replied "Maybe." The next day, his son tried to tame a wild horse but broke his leg when the horse flinged him off his back. The neighbours all gathered around and said "I feel so bad for you, how unlucky," and the farmer again replied "Maybe." A week later, a conscription officer came to the village looking for people to join the army, but rejected the farmer's son because he had a broken leg. The neighbors all gathered around the farmer and said "Wow, how great is that!" and the farmer replied "Maybe." The message of that story is that you can't be lucky or unlucky because you never know the consequence of your fortune or misfortune. For example, what if you win the lottery. Most people would consider that lucky, but then you have people who are trying to steal from you or even kill you to try to take your money. Would you still consider yourself lucky? I don't consider myself a lucky or unlucky person because of the reasons stated earlier.
ReplyDeleteI never really attended a St. Patrick's Day Parade but I have been to a little bit of parades. The first one I've ever been to was a type of street race parade, it was huge. Many people were gathered to watch this carnival of designs for each ride had a unique design. The other one I went to was the snow parade in downtown. It was filled with delights and performances with snow man's running about. Luck is a strange thing really, I don't really believe in luck that much because I think that there is always a reason for something but it happens when it appears to be luck that was the cause. I never thought I was the lucky type because i was never that much of a positive person.I always believed that I was unlucky and that luck and dreams were mere fantasy's but I still wonder if I was right.
ReplyDeleteI have no memory of any parades but i have seen some. To me luck is something you get if you keep your head up high and keep a good attitude. i have my good days and my bad days but i think I'm pretty lucky mainly because I'm safe, can see classmates and friends and teachers and can go to school. On my bad days i have to remind myself that some people have it worse than me.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, we should always remind ourselves that people have it worse than us. Great Blog!
DeletePersonally, I do not really celebrate St Patricks Day, nor does my family. I never attended a parade, and I have never watched one. I believe Luck is something that maybe you can earn, like if you help someone, you will get that favour back. I could say I feel like a lucky person, as I get 3 meals a day everyday, I get to sleep under a roof, with heating and cooling, and I also get to go to school, see friends and be able to be safe while having fun. Many people have it worse than me, so I consider myself to be privileged and Lucky.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that we can earn luck by helping someone. Great blog!
DeleteI have never attended a St.Patrick's day parade or any other parade, but parades sound really fun, so I would love to go to one if possible. I do believe in luck, and I think we can actually gain our luck by having faith, but on the other hand, a person can't succeed with pure luck, they also need to work hard to get what they want. When it comes to winning prizes, I think it's definitely pure luck because not everyone has the chance to win. I would consider myself lucky most of the time because I'm living in a safe area with everything I need, but when it comes to card games or winning prizes, I was never lucky.
ReplyDeleteI agree, no one can succeed with pure luck
DeleteI have attended a St.Patricks day parade once and it was really fun, at that time I had a huge interest in Irish Tap Dancing so my dad took me to go see it. I believe luck is kind of like something that you can earn. not something that just comes to you. Most of the time I consider myself lucky because I get food, shelter, water, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe St. Patrick's Day parade seems like so much fun. Great Blog!
DeleteI have never attended a St. Patrick's Day parade nor any other parade for that matter. Parades do seem like such a cool thing to attend and would be awesome if I were able to go to one in the future. I have pretty mixed feelings about luck, sometimes I don't believe in luck at all while other times I pray on luck coming my way. The times that I have been luckiest are when I hardly study for a test for math or science, but luck comes my way a brings me a decent mark. On the other hand I don't really see luck as a great tool, because it seems like a great thing to have when you are in a tight situation. Although, if throughout your life you are depending on some sort of make believe concept that will make life easier for you, then you will never really make it anywhere. Instead you have to make your own luck, choose your own decisions and work hard for that outcome instead of wishing on a star about it.
ReplyDeleteI have not ever been to a saint patrick's day parade. I guess I believe in luck a bit, but not entirely. Like if you were to win the lottery, that's based on luck and sometimes people who get handed everything in life are lucky. I don't think that everything is due to someone being lucky or unlucky though. I think i would say i am unlucky because i do not usually win at like games or things like getting my name drawn for contests.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I have ever been to a St Patricks day parade. I don't really believe in luck for things like getting chosen for sports teams, but winning a contest is based on luck. I would say that I am lucky and unlucky. In school, I am unlucky, like when the only time the teacher checks the homework, that's the one day I forget to do it. I'm also unlucky with getting chosen for presentations. But, I am lucky in sports, not in our sports abilities, but in winning games, and playing well.
