The Province of Ontario has elected to MOVE March break to end-April.

This was done so people could go back outside and obviously to slow down the virus.

Do you think Quebec should have followed Ontario?

It has been a strange year, what would this change mean for you?

Explain.

Comments

  1. I don't think Quebec should follow this rule because we've already been through so much change and by adding more, it'll make people stressed out and more anxious. Not everyone likes change. I agree that we've been off too much during these past few weeks but I just don't see a point in changing March break. Also, you can still go do things outside, regardless of what month it is, as long as you're social distancing. For example you can go skating at an outdoor rink or go cross country skiing.

    2. Yeah, there is really no point in changing our break.

  2. I think that if Quebec had followed Ontario, many people would get frustrated and it would cause a lot of stress for everyone, so I think that Quebec should not follow Ontario’s restrictions. If Quebec changed it, for me, it wouldn’t really change anything, except for the fact that I would have to do work instead of getting a week of relaxation and time off of school and stress. If we didn’t have March Break next week, I probably would just treat it like any other week. I would much rather have a break in March than in April like Ontario’s, so that I can still go skiing and enjoy the snow.

  3. I don't think Quebec should follow Ontario's decision by pushing the March break week. Many people including myself find that we need this week, as it as been a long 2 months and by pushing the break, it will feel like another 2 months before we can relax a long time. It will make me much more tired, and possible even stressed out, as I would be tired all the time. Not just me, everyone needs a break of worrying a lot, and by relaxing for one whole week will do everyone some good. What would mostly change for me is that I will do a lot less skiing. The temperature is good for the week, and I would like to take advantage. If it was pushed 2 months, there would be a lot less snow, and possible no more skiing. Besides that, I would juts be more tired.

    1. March break really is an essential time to relax, take a break and make sure your ready for the next part of the year

    3. To be fair, however we did have back to back 2-day weeks of school, and then 2 4-day weekends. And, the temperature is already rising again.

  5. I think that Quebec should not follow Ontario's example because March brake is a time to make sure that your ready for the next part of the year. It's essential to restaurant owners to make sure everything is in place to reopen there shops, for people to relax and enjoy the comfort of home, to review subjects that you have not been doing well in and catch up to your fellow classmates. It allows people to breath and make sure everything is in place for the next year. Moving it forward in April defeats the purpose of the preparation, it can cause us to be further down the steps. This change would exhaust me due to my lack of confidants in my marks right now I think It's best that March break stayed in march so that i can catch up now and make sure i am 100% with the class. I need it to look over the subjects to come and the ones I've already done, to solidify my understandings of what I've learnt so far.

    1. I disagree. I think we have had too much time off as it is, besides the severity of the pandemic is a lot more important.

  6. I don’t think that Quebec should do the same thing as Ontario. At this point I think it's too late now too move the march break. In Quebec we have so many restrictions like the curfew, so moving march break would spark fear in people. If they moved march break, it wouldn’t impact me a lot because I know that in around 3-4 weeks I can go outside and start doing more things. I have been off a lot this month and we got lucky with the snow day but I think that Quebec has done a good job with controlling the virus. When I was told to stay home for 2 weeks, the instructions I was given were really easy to follow. In Quebec we are doing good with the virus so moving march break is pretty useless too me.

  7. I don't think Quebec should have followed Ontario, for two reasons. The first being that some people planned "miny trips" to see there family and by moving March break it makes it much harder to orchestrate those road trips. Second, I think a lot of adults are feeling burnt out, and are counting on this break with there kids or friends, to just relax and reset. For me I don't have much plans for March break, so it wouldn't affect me to hard but I still strongly disagree with moving it.

    1. That is true, makes sense not to move it.

  8. I don think Quebec should move March break days because I feel that it will just confuse and make everyone super frustrated. Some people also have plans to go place so it would also ruin them. I feel it wouldn't be beneficial to change anything because your still going to have March break why try and change it. If it did change i feel like it, I would probably just treat it like another week of school. For march break, I was just planing on going skiing with my family in Bromont.

  9. I seriously don't even know whats happening now, but what Ontario did makes sense to me, and maybe Quebec should have followed suit, but it also makes sense not to move the march break, whether it is moved or not, doesn't really matter to me and I don't think it will effect me at all.

    1. Yeah same, it wouldn't affect me either.

  10. I don't think that Quebec should move March break to end of april. First, everyone is looking forward to March break so to move it to a later date would disappoint many people. Next, a lot of people are stressed so I think that a break would be good for everyone. This year has definitely been strange. So, the change would just be another strange thing to happen so it wouldn't be too bad, but I would have been looking forward to a break.

  11. I don't think that Quebec should move the Spring break since some parents have already taken the week off so that they could spend time with their kids. Personally it would have been annoying if they had followed Ontario, simply because me and my dad have been looking forward to playing D&D together for awhile since we are both off all week.

  12. I don't think Quebec should follow Ontario because (personally) I find that April is too far in the year to take a break. The end of the year is the time where all the important stuff is being introduced and concluded, and the time where we should be present in school the most. And even if we did, this year has been strange already, why would we have to add to it?

    1. I completely agree. Having a break that late in the year would screw over a lot of people.

  13. Though I don't think that we should move march break to then end of April I do think that it should be later in march because I feel like it's to close to Christmas break and every year my grades drop because I get lazy after Christmas and march. I also think that having it at the end of April would be to late in the year and get in the year when a lot of teachers give tests. If they did decide to move the break it would land really close to orthodox Easter which is my Easter so I guess that's a plus.

  14. I think that the Quebec government has made some pretty awful decisions that have majorly affected the outcome of this pandemic. They either make the wrong decision or make the right one too late. I don't understand why we are still having a march break its ridiculous, they know people are going to travel outside of the country and they know its going to make the pandemic worse. But for some reason they just won't postpone it to a later date. It's not even that unrealistic, if Ontario can do it so can we. This personally wouldn't change anything for me, we weren't going to go away anyways so I don't care. We've also missed so much school that I don't even mind if they would just cancel it all together.

  15. I don’t think this is a smart idea because march break is a static week that should never change and it helps those with jobs to plan their days off and vacation. This change wouldn’t mean much to me, other than having a later march break towards the end of the year. There have been too many restrictions over the past week, and making more changes would just make it even messier. Quebec shouldn’t follow Ontario because it is too late now and it would make matters worse.

  16. I don't think Quebec should follow Ontario's lead, it's much too late to decide to rearrange everything. To be honest, I feel like our government has made many decisions regarding the pandemic much to late which lead to cases growing. For example, it was said that we could see family during the Christmas break but shortly after the rules had changed and it wasn't allowed. Although I didn't see my family and followed the rules I know many people got frustrated by that and decided to do as they please. If they decide to move March Break, the same thing will happen again. Many think they're superior to the law and decide to do what they want, especially if they feel like things have been going on for too long.

  17. Personally, I do not believe that we should have followed Ontario because I think that even though we are off every second, we do need a week off from school to just relax and do nothing. We need a week with no stress and no homework. There have been so many changes this year and I think people need March Break to look forward too. I don’t think this would mean much to me because we can’t go on vacation or really do anything with all the restrictions.

  18. I think that the logic of the move makes a lot of sense, and that it would be the right thing to do. But then again a lot of people don't have as much break time as we do and need a break because of all the stress. Also people have already adjusted their schedules to the march break and so changing it now would be annoying. So even if it means a bit more covid, I don't think we should change the date. Maybe instead we should postpone opening theaters. For me I would be annoyed that the break is moved cause I was looking forward to not just having a whole week off, but to having a whole week off without homework or tests or projects. And it would be a pain expecting this break and then it just gets moved.

    1. It does make sense but I still feel that it would help students more if the break stays in March.

    2. I also think the logic to move makes a lot of sense, although I never really thought about how people would adjust their schedules since they can't do activities, see friends, or even see family.

  19. I don't think Quebec should have followed Ontario because we students need a break and moving it to the end of April will only make us less motivated to do school work. We made a good decision of keeping it in March and I think it will be more beneficial for us than to have it at the end of April. This change would be horrible for me because I want a break now and I have been looking forward to it, so if it was switched to later, than I would go crazy. I think that I would profit more from a break now than later.

  20. I don't think it's a good idea for Quebec to follow Ontario's restriction. First of all, it's way too late to make the decision. Secondly, many people had already made plans for the week off, so it would be annoying and stressful if they suddenly move the break to the end-April. Thirdly, we need a break from all the tests and homework. The change wouldn't mean anything to me since we aren't allowed to go anywhere, but there are definitely people who would still go travel anyway, which is annoying.

  21. I dont think that Quebec should follow ontario just becuase if they moved march break to end of april we'd have that week off and the 5 days for easter as well so we would be missing a lot of school, not that I mind. At this point the change probably wouldnt really make a difference for me, although if march break was moved to end of april then I probably wouldn't be able to go skiing, which would be kind of annoying but i'd find something else to do.

  22. I don't think quebec should do the same as ontario. There have obviously been a lot of ped days recently but there's also been so much change that the last thing anyone needs is more of it. I think it would just cause more anxiety and stress for everyone. People can still go outside if they want to. Also there wouldn't be snow in april and i think that would suck so i think they should just leave it as it is. For me it wouldn't really change much, except the weather would be different so the activities would also be.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Contrary to popular belief, I think that we should do the same as Ontario. I understand that we need a break but if we delay it for a bit, more things will open up and that will allow us to do more activities over the break. I think that would make the one week break more enjoyable and relaxing instead of just having a week where we sit down and do nothing all day. If March break was moved to end-April, I would probably be able to do more activities, both indoors and outdoors. Since the number of cases would go down, more indoor activities will reopen and since the weather will be nicer, I would be able to do more outdoor activities.

  24. I do not think we should follow Ontario's move by moving March break to April. For the most part, like most kids, I really need and want the March break and pushing it back a whole month is horrible for everyone's moral. Secondly, I do not think that moving back a week vacation will drastically change the Corona virus cases. No matter what week, people will move around and meet others illegally, and they will catch the virus that is inevitable. Vaccines will also not take a month to go across the globe in just a month so the outcome if March break is now or in a month will remain the same. Which is the reason why I think the March break should stay in March.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't think we should move march break to the end of April. I honestly don't really see why moving the break would slow down the spread of the virus. Even if the break was moved to march people would still travel and the coronavirus cases would stay the same. I think that most people really need a break around this time and I would be quite frustrated if march break were to be moved to a later date. If this were to happen not much would change for me because I don't do much anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Near the end of April would be nice, as it would give us a break later, when we might need it more. And, moving March Break does literally nothing to how I would spend march break in the first place. However, I think it's pointless trying to move something that so many people are looking for. Almost no breaks for certain people since the break in December ended. People are exhausted after having to work for so long, and they really looked forward for this little vacation time. If the government decided to deny them of that privilege, i think that almost everyone will be upset, and they would start to show it. Riots aren't a good thing, and I'm not saying it will amount to that, but, it's still a possibility.
