There will only be ONE (1) blog this week!
No school FRIDAY!

At some point this week, I will be celebrating my birthday :).

However, like everyone else, I will have to celebrate alone.

Have you had a COVID birthday? How did you spend it?
If you had to have a second COVID birthday, would you do something different?

If none of these questions apply, tell me about your BEST/WORST birthday!

Explain.

  1. I did have a COVID birthday. I wasn't able to have family or friends over at the time so it wasn't the most eventful one. I usually go up to Quebec City to visit the rest of my family but we couldn't do it so we ended up having a cake and celebrating it with my mom, dad, and sister at my house. If I had to have a second COVID birthday, I wouldn't really change much because I still had a lot of fun. Assuming I had to change something, I would probably try to plan out our shopping more because we weren't able to get everything we needed due to the huge lineups at stores.

  2. Yes I had a Covid birthday. I was very fortunate because my birthday was in August when we were still in the green zone and the weather was still very nice. We had some family over in the backyard and ordered pizza from my favorite pizza restaurant. We all sat outside and enjoyed each other's company. It was different from any other birthday I've had but I still made the most of it. If I had to have another Covid birthday I would plan a driveby with my friends to be able to see them.

    2. Your so lucky! I have a birthday in September so the weather wasn't that bad, but it was changing constantly. Great blog!

    3. That's such a great Covid birthday! If you have a next one, let's hope it's as good as that one.

  3. I did have a COVID birthday, since mine was in November. At that time, you could of saw people, but at a distance outdoors. Fortunetaly, my grandparents and cousins came to our cottage, and we sat outside and played some games. For my actual day, it was just my dad, my mom and my sister just at the house celebrating with a cake. If I had a second birthday, we would probably not even be allowed to see people outdoors, due to the severity of the virus, so its good I had it before.

  4. Unfortunately, I had a COVID birthday. My birthday was in December and I had to spend it alone since we were in red zone. I spent my birthday at my mom and dads house and we ordered food of my choice, had cake and just hung out. If I had a second COVID birthday, one thing I would do different is probably go on zoom with friends and family so I could see them. I would also maybe go out and see my friend but obviously social distance.

    1. My birthday was also when we were in serious lockdown. What food did you order?

    2. I ordered dumplings at my dads house and greek food at my moms

  5. My birthday is April 27th, so I had a Covid birthday. It was at the beginning of Covid, so we couldn’t do anything special since it was a serious lockdown. It kind of sucked because usually I have my family over and we celebrate all together. It was definitely a calmer birthday than the usual ones. My sister made me a cake, and for supper we had burgers. I think that if I had a second birthday during Covid, it would be pretty much the same, because now the cases are even higher than my first birthday.

  6. I have had a COVID birthday, on November 7, my birthday was just like another day. There was nothing to do but sit at home. I just watched a lot of tv with my family. If I have a second COVID birthday, I will probably not do anything differently because I can't really think of anything else to do except watch tv for the whole day. I hate having a COVID birthday, I usually go out to dinner with my family or hang out with friends, but I can't until a long time. COVID SUCKS!

  7. My birthday was during covid but i'm pretty sure it was during a time where you could be with one family to a maximum of 10 people. I think. Can't remember. So it was like a normal birthday except with one family present. Also my birthday is almost the same as another person in that family so we had a double party. We did cake gifts and a movie and just hung out. It was pretty cool. Most people complain about their covid parties but mine wasnt bad. If I had a second covid birthday then I would spend it playing video games, watching movies and being with family.

  8. I indeed did have a covid birthday in September when the school situation was developing. The way I spent it was that I went out with a few friends from school to a public park and just socialized after a while of being antisocial. If I had a second covid birthday I would probably just keep it to myself and just celebrate alone. I don't want to increase the risk of any of my family members or friends catching covid or having symptoms because of me.

  9. My birthday was in late March. Unfortunately that was the beginning of the pandemic so I could not celebrate my birthday. Me and my friends were really excited because a lot of us had birthdays in march and we wanted to celebrate together since we don't see each other often but we couldn't because of the pandemic. I still had a small birthday at home with my birthday though. We had cake and I got presents but I wish I could have seen my friends

  10. My birthday was a couple of months ago so I did have a covid-19 birthday. Unfortunately everything was shut down so i didn't so much. By the time, everyone will be vaccinated everyone will at least have had a covid birthday, maybe even two. I didn't have anything because I knew well ahead of time that I will not be celebrating. I celebrate by grandparents coming over and we all sat aside and ate some cake. I hope next year my birthday will be better.

  11. My birthday is today so yes i had (am having) a covid birthday. i will spend time with my mom and enjoy seeing all of you (even if it is on zoom). in science class i really appreciated you singing happy birthday. :) it made it feel more normal. So thank you. I hope to facetime/zoom my friends after school today too. I would totally be fine with doing it again. I wouldn't change a thing!

  12. I had a "COVID birthday" last October, it honestly wasn't too bad. I was still able get together with my family, although I couldn't with my friends. I spent my birthday at home with my dog which is all I could ever ask for. If I had a second COVID birthday which is looking almost certain, I would probably spend it with my dog again in all honesty, for my birthday dinner I'm probably gonna get some delicious sushi OFCOURSE and that' about it.

  13. Yes, my birthday is december 18th, so actually my COVID birthday was excellent because there were no exams and I could relax. I had a chill birthday, which is basically what i do anyways, so it was very fun. Due to the fact that it was so enjoyable, I don't think I would change a thing. Of course I'd have loved to go around to a friends house or something of that sort afterwards, but other than that I had a lot of fun. Hopefully your birthday is as enjoyable as mine was, Mr. Katz!

    1. That's so lucky to have your birthday with no exams. That would be so relieving to me if exams were cancelled that were supposed to take place on my birthday. Great blog.

  14. My birthday is in April so it was during covid. My birthday last year kinda sucked. I couldn't go anywhere or do anything. I basically just sat at home and did what I normally do on any regular day. To be honest I barely even remember my birthday last year, it was just another day. I think that I probably will have another birthday during covid and when that happens hopefully there will be at least a few places open so I have something to do. If not, then it'll probably be the same as last year.

  15. My covid birthday was not bad. Besides having my birthday on a school day with 2 tests, it was pretty okay. Since my birthday in on the 1st of december, my family and I decided that we were going to make a tradition of decorating our tree on my birthday every year. We made gingerbread houses and decorated the house with lights for Christmas. If I have to spend another birthday in covid, I don't think I would change a thing. It was pretty cool.

  16. I never had a covid birthday yet but this year I think I will. Lockdown ends 5 days before my birthday but I expect it to continue for longer meaning I will celebrate my birthday in lockdown. Last year, I had my birthday right before lockdown so it was very peaceful and fun. Although i'm expecting to have a covid birthday i'm not disappointed at all because I know new sneakers are releasing close to my birthday so I can buy those and they'll erase the fact that I can't see anyone.

    1. ya this year is much worse then 2020 because there are more cases then before and new rules in place to try and calm the wave but the one thing i found crazy is that now were getting curfews.

  17. My birthday was good, luckily the covid situation wasn't as bad as it is now so luckily I was able to see a few friends. I went to an escape room with three of my friends and we had ice cream cake afterwards. If I had a second covid birthday I would be very disappointed because that would mean that covid had been going on for several years. If it did happen that I would have a second birthday during this pandemic I would probably not do anything.

  18. i had a covid birthday in june, during the summer. since i couldnt really have a party i celebrated it with my sister, dad, step-mother, mother, step-father and my step siblings. since we were so many people i wasnt really alone. it was kind of boring not being able to get together with all my friends although i did hang out with them during the summer. if i had a second covid birthday i would most likely do the same thing i did the first time although i really hope that covid is over by then.

  19. In fact I did have a covid birthday. Mine took place on the 9th of May , it came with a great beginning for we still did not get any news on whether we should commence school online or not so we were free the whole time. I got to sleep in stay up all night long. It was not as fun as going out with my family as usual but I still was accompanied by 2 of my closest friends, now I know your thinking that it was unsafe don't worry we were outside seating apart from each other. I was given lots of candy and I did get to watch a great amount of tv but ultimately i took it to myself to take a walk as usual, I find out it part of my newly found daily rout. At the end of the day I was treated with a very nice chocolate caramel glazed cake made by my mother. I didn't get to get any other present then my goodies but yet it was more then enough to keep me satisfied. If I had a second covid birthday I would be okay with it because seeing how the last one went I had fun . If I were to have a second one I think I would want to spend more time outside cause I very much enjoy the weather of that period in the year.

  20. I had a Covid-19 birthday in the first quarantine. On March 28, it almost felt like just another normal day because nothing really happened. I got a lot of phone calls from my family wishing me a happy birthday and I got a couple of present from my parents and sister. At night we also did a zoom call between my family so they could talk to me better and so I could blow out my candles and eat cake. Besides this it really didn't seem like your normal birthday but I honestly didn't really mind. My birthday is still pretty far away so it really depends on how the vaccines are going and how the cases are flowing to see if I will have another quarantine birthday. If I were to have another one I still wouldn't really mind because I don't really need much to have a good birthday.

  21. My family doesn’t really value birthdays as much as other families. I guess my best birthday was when I got my favorite cake which was a super sweet, massive chocolate cake from costco. It was the best birthday cake I have ever had and my family didn’t like it as much so there were more leftovers for me. My worst birthday I had was when I had to eat the worst cake I have ever eaten. It was a really weird cake, but it looked fine so my parents bought it and then I am pretty sure the eggs they used were rotten or something because it was the worst cake I have ever eaten. We couldn’t even return it so we had to throw it away.

  22. I did have a Covid birthday, and it wasn't bad since we weren't in serious lockdown. It was pretty much the same as how I would normally celebrate it. I got to bake cake with my mom in the morning, which was pretty fun, and in the afternoon, I can relax and watch movies. I really hope Covid would be gone by then, but if I had to have a second Covid birthday, I wouldn't change too much except maybe be more productive during the day instead of doing nothing, and then the day just flew by.

  23. My birthday is in July, so I have experienced a Covid Birthday. For my birthday, I just hung out with my family and ate ice cream cake. I wasn't able to have a party because of Covid, but I still had fun with my family. If I have my next birthday during the pandemic, I would do the same thing I did last year, hang out with my family. If my birthday is not during the Covid, I would definitely want to have a party, because I haven't hung out with my friends in a long time. I really hope that my 15th birthday is not during the pandemic.

  24. My birthday was in december so i did have a covid birthday. I spent it in my house alone, so i watched tv and just did nothing during the day until my family got home. Then we ordered sushi and watched a movie. I couldn't see my grandparents for long but they came during the day to drop off some gifts for me. I also facetimed some of my friends during the day. If i had a second covid birthday i would spend it the same way because i liked the day.

  25. My covid birthday was in April, and it wasn't anything special, especially because I am a teenager now. The day was pretty regular, except for the fact that I got 10 bags of Skittles, I had to do absolutely no chores, and we had a cake at the end of the day. My grandparents did visit to say happy birthday, but they didn't stay long, and we didn't get less than 2 ft away from each other. If I were to have another covid birthday, i would imagine that it wouldn't really be anything different, considering the situation is still the same.

  26. I had my birthday in august and it really sucked not being able to spend it with friends and family, but I still enjoyed it with my parents we still had cake and instead of going out for dinner, me and my mom cooked, then we watched my favorite movies for the rest of the night. if we're still in lockdown by the time my next birthday rolls around I don't think I'd spend it differently considering there are not many ways to celebrate these things in a pandemic.

  27. Personally I'm not crazy about my birthday. I think of it as a regular day. Everything is usually simple as I don't enjoy big celebrations. I like celebrating other people's birthdays just not mine. November 25 is just like any other day, I just get lots of cash. Celebrating with my cousins was very strange as we stood outside and talked with my dog scoobie. Next year when my birthday comes if there's still covid, I would celebrate it the exact same way, NO CELEBRATION!

  28. I had a my birthday in august and since restrictions weren't that tight I was able to see some of my family. If I do get stuck doing it gain I think that I would go see some friend son my birthday but with how things are looking now there's a chance I won't be seeing anyone any time soon.
