Welcome to 2021!

The government has been slowly rolling out the COVID vaccine (YAY!)

If you were in charge, who would you vaccinate first? Second? Third?

Should teachers and students be on the priority list to get vaccinated?

What about the homeless? When should they be vaccinated?

Explain.

Comments

  1. If I were to be in charge of giving out the COVID vaccines, I would evaluate the amount of cases by country. The countries with the most cases would be top priority to get the vaccine to greatly decrease the death rate. I feel that teachers and students should be high priority to receive the vaccine because until everyone in the school gets the vaccine, learning and education in general will slow down. Obviously, learning in person is more effective than online. The homeless should be just as important as people who go to work everyday. If anything they should be a higher priority because they don't have a home to isolate in, they are outside everyday meaning more exposure.

    2. I agree online learning is slowing down our education and in person school is much more effective.

    3. Great blog! I completely agree with the fact that online school is way less effective and that homeless people are much more susceptible to the virus.

  2. If I was in charge, I would make anyone who is in the health department take it first. It puts less people at risk. Then, I would make the seniors take it because they are at the highest risk of getting COVID and most of the deaths are from seniors. Finally, I would make teachers and students receive the vaccine because it'll be much easier for us students to learn. Students and teachers should be high priority because we are at a very high risk since we're in the same building with hundreds, even thousands of different people. Finally, I think the homeless should also get vaccinated because I feel like they're just as high risk as seniors.

  3. I think that the first people that should be vaccinated are important government officials and I also think they should take said vaccine along with others publicly to make sure it's safe for everyone else. Then I would have the really young kids take the vaccine because it would be awful for a small child to die from this instead of some old person that would have died soon anyway. I don't think that teachers and students should be forced to take I think that they should all have the choice to take it or not. Finally, I don't think that homeless should be priority at all.

    1. I agree with the fact that they should choose if they want it or not. I saw on the news (not from here, but Im pretty sure Ukraine) that they have to take it, no matter what, and I believe its your choice if you do not want it. Good Blog!

  4. I would vaccinate nurses and doctors first because we need them to take care of the individuals who are infected with the virus. They work in hospitals and are directly in contact with Covid patients. The vaccine will minimize the spread within hospitals. I would vaccinate elderly and people with underlying problems second. These people are the most vulnerable. We need to minimize the spread of the virus in elderly homes. I would then work my way to vaccinating parents, students and homeless. I do not think that students and teachers are a priority because for now online school is working fine and we are still learning just in a different environment.

  5. I would start to vaccine the first responders and the health care workers. The reason why i would do them first is because the come in contact with a lot of people so it would be safer for them and the people they're trying to help. I would then vaccine the senior population prioritizing the people who live in homes. I would then start to vaccinate the people with very bad health condition. For example, people who have leukaemia or respiratory issues. I don't like teacher and students should have priority because they are less know to get and there are alternative to teacher unlike being a health professional. I don't think we should prioritize if they have money or not but based on how at-risk they are.

    1. I agree with what you said about how we should give the vaccine to people of high-risk, not if they have money. Money isn't as important compared to people's lives.

  6. I would vaccinate those who deal most with COVID, such as nurses, doctors, really anyone who works in that line of field. Then, I would vaccinate people are are near many people, teachers, seniors in old folks home then students. And finally, I would vaccinate everyone else, as the rest of the people might not be , such as random people who do not see as many people. I believe that homeless should be vaccinated as well, as they are just as much people as we are, just that they do not have it as good as us. I believe they should get it last, with the general population, who does not encounter as many people as others.

  7. If I were in charge, I would give the vaccines to the elderly first. Then I would give the vaccine to all the individuals that worked in the health department or in departments with lots of socialization. For third, I would give the vaccine to all kids and newborns. This way, people are prioritized by most convenient and importance. I think that teachers and students shouldn't be top priority because we do have options to ensure our education like online learning, while, for example, doctors need to come in contact with patients. The homeless should also definitely get vaccinated because they are more exposed to the virus that we'd like.

    1. I agree, the homeless are exposed to the virus as well and it can be difficult to avoid it if you're homeless. Great blog!

  8. I think health care workers should get vaccinated first because without them, the virus can't be contained and treated. Seniors are also a high priority. I think teachers and students should get vaccinated at the same time because it's a great risk for everyone since we go to school and see many people. I think the homeless should get vaccinated because they often live in dirty environments. It's important to take care of them too and they deserve a vaccine as well.

    1. Healthcare workers can transmit the virus to many people but there not the most at risk. Those who have a weak immune system are the ones who are most endangered.

    2. I completly agree that healthcare workers should get it first since they are the ones who treat the sick.

  9. First I think the healthcare workers and seniors (especially CHSLD) should get vaccinated because seniors are the most susceptible to dying from the virus and healthcare workers are in contact with many of them on a regular basis. If the healthcare workers get vaccinated, it would allow them to be in closer contact with their patients and be able to further help them. Not only that, they would have less safety measures, decreasing the time practicing those measures and increasing the time helping patients. After that, I think that it should go by age. The older you are the more priority you have, unless you have a sickness, then you would be treated first. Homeless people should also get vaccinated alongside everyone else because they are constantly in contact with the virus. They have to stay on public property so they are always in contact with people and they cannot afford proper safety measures against the virus. I don't think we should dismiss homeless people from getting vaccinated because they still deserve to be safe and healthy.

  10. If I was in charge I would vaccinate the elderly, those with illnesses and the homeless. These people should be vaccinated first because there immune system are more vulnerable to the virus.
The homeless should be vaccinated first because they've never been vaccinated which means that there immune system has never been trained to fight the flew never mind a virus like this . Teachers and students deserve to be on the priority list but not first because students and teachers are one of the main ways of transmission but there not most at risk of the virus, it is not as lethal to them as it is to other people.

  11. If I were in charge I'd give the vaccine to the ER, SSU and people who see covid patients daily first, then I'd give it to grocery workers, public transportation, other hospital workers, teachers and then lastly homeless and everyone else at risk. The homeless should get it because they can't insure the physical distancing necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Firstly, if I was in charge, I would be very concerned because I would probably kill someone (by accident) But I would first give it to doctors, because they face Covid the most and need to constantly worry about it while working, so if they had it then they would be able to focus on the patients without having to worry about whether they have it or not. Then from there I would go give it to people on the essential worker list because they face some of the same things too and it would help them. Also to people who really really need it and are prone, like ones who have lung problems or could die from it. I think that only the homeless who are very sick and prone should be higher on the list than other homeless people because some of these people are more exposed then some of us.

    1. I completely forgot about doctors. This is why I'm not in charge.

  13. If I were in charge I think that the first people I would give the vaccine to are people who are above 65, especially those who work, because they are in the most danger of catching Covid-19 and actually being affected by it. Second I'd vaccinate any teachers or students still going to school because that's probably where it's spreading the most. Third I'd vaccinate the homeless because they can't stay home and because of that they're at higher risks of getting covid-19 and passing it on to someone else. Finally I'd vaccinate everyone else who hadn't yet been vaccinated, if we still had enough vaccines.

  14. If I was in charge of vaccine distribution I would have to prioritize the countries that put the most funding and work into the vaccine's invention, production and distribution. Once I filtered the countries I would look distribute to people at higher risk, for example people with defective immune systems. After that it would be people who are forced to be exposed to others like the homeless. Student and teachers should not be prioritized because were lucky to be able to do online learning unlike other essential workers like construction workers who have to physically be there.

  15. I find that our government is idiotic in vaccinating the elderly first, I'm not saying to let all old people die, but they are the closest to death, and they also do nothing for the economy, the elderly are not doing anything during this pandemic, this is why teachers and doctors should be vaccinated first, and then students after them, because these are the most important people for the economy, after these people, the elderly should be vaccinated.

    1. I agree. Teachers and nurses should be vaccinated first.

  16. In my opinion, I would vaccinate the people that are front line workers and that are desperately needed right now first. Front line workers such as nurses, doctors and anyone that works in a hospital. Next, I would vaccinate teachers, elderly and even students. Teachers and students are constantly exposed to the virus when at school and in classes with other people. Finally, I would vaccinate the rest of the people, such as kids. I feel like teachers should definitely be on the list because they’re around large amounts of kids all day. The homeless should also be vaccinated because they can still catch the virus and they are very exposed to the virus.

    1. I completely agree with your options but don't you think essential workers should also be on the priority list?

  17. If I was in charge I would vaccinate all front line workers first because they are the people that have been putting their life on the line for our safety. The second people that I would get vaccinated would be the essential workers so that they could at least be vaccinated before everyone because they are still exposed to the public and still have a huge risk to catching covid 19. The third people that I would vaccinate would be all students/teachers. Everyone in that student, teacher area are still exposed, maybe not as much as frontline or essential workers, but they are still exposed enough to have the vaccine before non-essential workers. The homeless should 100% be vaccinated if they aren't already in a home for pour people. Honestly on my list they would be vaccinated before people who have a home to go to because they are exposed a lot. They are out in the open and have no where to go because everything is closed.

  18. In my opinion the healthcare workers are the most important and they are the ones who are in contact with it first. Without health care workers we would be in a lot of trouble so if I were in charge I would give the vaccine to them first. Next I would give the vaccine to the sick and elderly. Then I would allow everyone else to receive the vaccine, children would get it last. I think the teachers and students are important, but they don't need it as much as healthcare workers and people with conditions. As for the homeless, I am not sure what I would do. It's a difficult situation because they aren't considered citizens since they don't pay tax so technically it wouldn't be fair that they get the vaccine when they dont pay like everyone else. But its also not fair that they are homeless and can't afford to pay tax. I would vaccinate them but I dont know how I would do it.

  19. I feel that the corona virus vaccine should be prioritized by poorest to richest and my oldest to youngest. So an old poor man or woman would be first and more privileged children would be last. I believe that they should do old people first because they are the ones who get most affected when they get the virus and could possibly die while for the most cases, kids pass the virus pretty quickly without harm. I believe that the poor should be prioritized as well because they get in more contact with other humans and if they do get the virus, they have less money which means less medical care (in the US.). While the more privileged can live without much contact with other human beings because of their way of living and house, etc. Even if they do catch the virus, they will be able to treat it with a lot of medical care.

  20. In my opinion, frontline workers should get vaccinated first. They have the most contact with people that are infected, especially the healthcare workers who have to take care of the patients every day. If they are immune, then we wouldn't worry that they might bring the virus to their families or co-workers so the cases would be under control. I would vaccinate transportation workers second because they have contact with people in a closed and small area. Also, people should feel safe about taking public transportation because it will help the economy back up. Next, I would vaccinate the elderly since they are more likely to get infected. I think teachers should be on the list because they spend most of their time around people. I'm not sure about the homeless, I think we can vaccinate those who have poor health so it won't spread that fast.

  22. if I was giving out the vaccines I would give it to the essential workers/front line workers first because we need them the most, then i would give it to the elderly like 70 +, then i would give it to everyone 60 and over then 50 and over and continue like that. I don't think that teachers should get priority over others because there's a bunch of other people who aren't teachers but their job still requires them to be around a lot of people so i dont think that teachers should get it more than them. And I dont think that students should get it before everyone else that needs it gets it because they're the least likely to die from it or end up in the hospital so they definitely shouldn't get priority. the homeless should be vaccinated like anyone else.

  23. Alright, so this is a difficult topic for me. There are all of the different classes of society, and that makes my decision a little offensive to some people. Let's be honest, if I were in charge of giving out vaccines, I would give it to the rich. Not just for selfish reasons, though. If the rich people pay a lot of money for the vaccines, not only will people be getting vaccines, but we will have even more money, to create even more COVID-19 vaccines, and we'll be able to get them out faster. Teachers would be higher on the priority list than students, for me. That's because the teachers wouldn't really have to worry. And, some students, for some reason, wouldn't be able to get the vaccine, and no matter what, they'll continue to spread the virus, unlike teachers. Of course, the homeless are higher on the priority list than teachers. They need to be vaccinated as well, and more, because there are more of them, and, they won't be able to spread it to others. There is a problem with that, though. There is absolutely no guarantee that we will get all of them.

  24. If I was in charge of the whole vaccine thing, I personally would vaccinate the doctors first. Doctors are very essential and are face to face with Covid-19 everyday. Second I would vaccinate people that are important towards the economy of our country. Then third would be the general public but essential would have priority. Teachers and students honestly shouldn't be more important than homeless people when getting the vaccine. The homeless should be valued the same exact way if not more than students and teachers. Homeless thrive everyday sometimes with money just to eat, drink, and sleep.

  25. I believe that the people who should get it first are the essential workers like doctors and nurses. They should be prioritized first before everyone else. People who have jobs that come in contact with a lot of people should be prioritized like teachers. I believe that the older teachers and doctors get it first since they are more vulnerable. Then it should be the younger ones and when they are all rolled out, I would give it to the students and the homeless. I believe that students should get the vaccines first because we can cause an outbreak in the school which can be bad.

  26. I think that people who have important jobs should be vaccinated first, if people need to travel a lot for work and are seeing a lot of different people to avoid the spread of the virus they should get the vaccine first. I think teachers should be the next group of people to be vaccinated after this because being in contact with many students can be dangerous. I don't think students should have the priority because they are at less risk. Homeless people should get vaccinated at the same time regular office workers do because neither of them are super important to society and they are not a high risk.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would vaccinate the essential workers because the are in contact with so many people and they save our lives. Next, I think they should gradually do 90+, 80+, 70+, etc, because they older people are more in more at risk. I also think that the homeless people should be on the priority list because they are at a higher risk by living in the public. I believe that teachers should be vaccinated early because they come in contact with a lot of people so they are at a higher risk than others.

I think students and teachers should be priority because we are in a building almost everyday with hundreds of people who are in contact with other people. 29. I think if i were in charge, i would vaccinate health care workers before anyone else because we need them and they're in contact with most people so it would be beneficial to the workers and to the patients. Then I would vaccinate senior citizens because they're at a high risk with the virus. Then I would vaccinate the homeless. I don't really think that students and teachers should be on the priority list to get vaccinated because there are ways for us to slow the spread of the virus, like online school.
