  1. The purpose of Remembrance Day is to remember those soldiers who had fought and died during the wars. To me, it means to remember the veterans who sacrificed their lives in order to give us freedom. I think it's important to remember the sacrifices made in the war because, without them, we wouldn't have a free land and live peacefully as we are today. I think people will still celebrate it 50 years from now. It's a day we celebrate every year, so I think people should keep doing this, and also be grateful for those who had served for our country.

  2. I think the purpose of Remembrance Day is to honour the soldiers who sacrificed their lives to fight for our country. They left their families to fight for our rights and that's why they should be remembered. Without them, we wouldn't have as much freedom as we do now. In 50 years from now I think Remembrance Day should be celebrated. It's a day to honour those who fought and we shouldn't take our freedom for granted. I'm very grateful for all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives.

  3. The purpose of remembrance day is to remember the soldiers that have fallen to protect their country and their loved ones. It is not only to remember the soldiers that fought in WW1 and WW2, but in all the wars the soldiers fought in. Remembrance day is something that I am happy for as without those soldiers, we wouldn’t be where we are today so Remembrance day has a lot of meaning for me. It is very important to remember those sacrifices as without them, we wouldn’t be where we are and they fought to save our lives and save our country. As long as there are wars, Remembrance day will still be celebrated in 50 years and beyond.

  4. The purpose of remembrance day is to honor the fallen soldiers that Canada lost on November 11th, I personally don't have any family that has to do with remembrance day but I am still very grateful for all the sacrifices made by every single soldier who died for Canada. I'm honored to say I grew up in Canada.

  5. The purpose of remembrance day is to remember all the soldiers that have died fighting in the war. This day doesn't have a personal connection to me in any way, but is very important to me because it's just a day were we could actually just spend the time thinking about the ones who have sacrificed themselves for us and for our country. Yes, it is important because all of us take life for granted and we need to have those 2 minutes to say thanks and just acknowledge them. I hope that this day will forever be celebrated or acknowledged because it really is an important day.

    2. The 2 minutes can symbolise the 2 teams in the war and that if we are still standing it means that we turned out victorious but with victory comes consequences.

  6. The purpose of remembrance day is to remember the soldiers that died in world war II. Peace was declared on the 11th hour of the 11th day or the 11th month which is why at 11 a clock the whole world stays silent and thinks about all of those who have sacrificed their lives for us. Both of my grandparents were in world war II. My grandfather was an aircraft engineer and pilot for Germany and my grandmother was a nurse and engineer for the British which is pretty ironic. Thankfully both of them survived the war. Although they weren't serving for Canada I still appreciate their service. It is extremely important that were remember and take time to appreciate those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

  7. The purpose of Remembrance day is to honour the soldiers that fought and died for their country. I am very thankful for everybody that wants to go to war and represent their country. Nobody in my family has gone to war or been in the military, but we still have the utmost respect for the soldiers. Remembrance day should never not be a thing. If people stopped wearing poppies and remembering the soldiers that lost their life in war it would be a sad day for the world. I think Remembrance day will be around for more than 50 years.

  8. The purpose of remembrance day is to acknowledge those who sacrificed their lives for our safety. it is to remember those who lost loved ones. I personally show my support and take the two minutes of silence seriously. it is greatly important to remember those who fought and the many who never saw their kids again. I am not a profercy teller but I really hope it stays a tradition forever.

  9. The purpose of remembrance day is to remember those who have died sacrificing their lives to protect us and our country. The purpose of it is to thank those to put their lives at risk, to save ours. We should honour them as they are our heroes, because of them, we can have a happy life. It is very important to remember the sacrifices made in war. The sacrifices make us think about everybody who put their life on hold to want to save us, who we should respect. I do believe Remembrance day will still exist, as there will always be people who will sacrifice their lives for us, as wars will still continue.

  10. I think that the purpose of remembrance day is to honour the veterans and the people who fought for our freedom. Remembrance day is important to me because I know people who have served in the wars and the stories they would tell me were amazing! We also should spread more awareness to others about what this day really means to Canada. Yes it is important to remember the sacrifices made in war because it allows us to have a free democratic country and have peace. Yes I hope it is still celebrated in 50 years because wars will still continue and we need to honour those people who are fighting for us.

  11. The purpose of remembrance day is to honor all the soldiers who fought and died for our country. Because of them we are able to live freely and not fear for our lives every day. This day will always be meaningful to me because I'm a citizen of Canada and I am thankful for all the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in peace and in freedom. It is always important to remember the sacrifices made in war to remind us how lucky we are and to not take our freedom for granted. This is often overlooked in our country and we always find ways to complain about things, and I have yet to meet someone who gives thanks more than he complains. I think remembrance day will be celebrated in 50 years because we have to remind ourselves how fortunate we are and we have to honor the fallen soldiers who died to give us what we have.

  12. Remembrance Day marks the day World War One ended. At 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. It's to remember the soldiers that fought for our country and who have died in war. For me, Remembrance Day is a day of remembering people that made it possible for myself and others to live in peace. I think that we should celebrate it 50 years from now because it’s very important that we recognize the sacrifices made to make our country better. Many people sacrificed their own lives, and we should never forget that.

  13. The purpose of remembrance day is to horror and remember the people of fought in the war to protect Canada. Personally, remembrance day has a lot of meaning to me because the great grandfather fought in the second world war. Although, he did survive it is important to remember how he protected the Allies. It is very important to remember those soldiers because they risk their lives and sacrifice so much in order to keep the country safe. I hope in 50 years they will continue and remember those people who fought in the war.

  14. Remembrance day is a memorial day where we remember all who fought in the line of duty and the sacrifices they made so that we could live the lives we have. Personally, I don't know anyone who fought in the war to remember, but I am still grateful for the sacrifices and courage that the soldiers showed for us to live peacefully, which is why I want to remember. I think its important to remember now, and will always be important because sometimes we take our freedom and peace for granted, but people sacrificed their very own lives so that we could have this. Which is why its important to remember so we can honor their bravery and never forget what they did for us

  15. Remembrance Day is a day where we wear poppies and take a moment of silence to remember all the soldiers that fought in the war. These soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect their country and to protect us. Remembering these soldiers is very important because they made the ultimate sacrifice and they should be recognized for that. This day is filled with so much meaning because these people left their families and friends, so that we could live in a peaceful and free country. I do not think we will ever stop celebrating this day because we have been celebrating it for decades now. I do not think we could ever break such an important tradition.

  17. The point of Remembrance Day is to remember those who have died in past wars, namely world war 1 and 2. Remembrance Day doesn't have that much of a meaning to me because I don't have much to remember. I'm pretty sure that since I was born Canada hasn't been in any war or any real fight with another country. I think that it is very important to remember the sacrifices of war, because if people remember how crappy it is to be at war and how much they lose while at war then maybe there will be less wars and the world will be a better place. I think that Remembrance Day will be celebrated forever because it is an important day that has a lot of meaning to a lot of people (veterans and their families). Of course when world war 3 happens we're gonna celebrate Remembrance Day more than ever, because than people will have something to remember.

  18. Remembrance Day is a day to reminisce about the war and pay our respects to the soldiers who fought for us that were fallen in battle. This day means a lot to me because it just reminds me that we would not be in such a great world today if it weren't for those who sacrificed their lives for us. Yes, it is extremely important to remember the sacrifices made for our country and for all the people because, we should be grateful to the soldiers that fought in the war. They protected our country and fought with honor and they shall be respected throughout the centuries to come. I feel as though Remembrance day will be celebrated forever, if the brave soldiers had not fought to protect us, then we would not be here today to be thankful. If we would not be here today, then people no matter how many years in the future would not be there either. It started with the sacrifices made for us and it is a day we should always remember for eternity.

  19. Remembrance day is to remember all war veterans and what they have done for their country and to thank them. Remembrance day is as important to me as it is to any other person, I don't know anyone close to me who has gone to war but I still think it is important to remember all those who have sacrificed for their country. I think it is very important to remember all those who have gone to war because they made a huge sacrifice for other people and I think we should be thankful for that.

  20. The purpose of remembrance day on november 11th at 11am is to remember all the people who have fought and died in the line of duty. Remembrance day doesn't really have any connection to me personally, but I am still thankful for all the people who served and I think it's important to remember all the sacrifices made in war. I think remembrance day definitely should be celebrated in 50 years from now because there are still people that died and fought for our freedom.

  21. the purpose of remembrance day is to celebrate all the soldiers that fought for us in the war. I dont know anyone that was in the war or affected by it but i believe that it's still really important to remember all the lives that were lost. it is important to remember because remembering the war and everyone that we lost is the only way to prevent another huge war from happening i think and because it's the right thing to do. I do believe that remembrance day will still be celebrated 50 years from now because not only is it a huge part of our history that we cant forgot but it is now a tradition as well.

  22. Remembrance day to me, personally is the most important day of the year. In this day we celebrate the brave men and women who went abroad to do what their country needed in every war after world war 1. It is important to remember the ones who served, whether they be dead or alive, because they gave up a happy life doing what they want to fight for people that they had never met, the people of the future, some of which will continue doing what they have done, by protecting the people back home. I hope to follow their lead eventually, and serve for our future generations. I know that everyone should give the fallen soldiers at the very least one minute of silence, because it could very well be that if it were not for the fallen, Canada would not be how we know it now. In 50 years from now, I hope that remembrance day will still be known. It does not matter how long
ago this war took place, that does not render the soldiers sacrifice any less important, and therefore we must always remember the eleventh month of the eleventh day of the eleventh hour, and keep those who sacrificed their lives in our thoughts and prayers.

  23. Remembrance day is something special to all of us, because it marks the day that we remember those who have fallen, just to give us our future. They sacrificed their lives so we could continue living. Of course, it doesn't necessarily affect me on a personal level. I don't have any personal connections with any of the soldiers that have died during the war. It is important, because their lives lost meant ours being saved, and that is sort of what our society was built off of. Although, this day might not be celebrated 50 years from now, and that is because the societies we read about in short stories like "Harrison Bergeron", or "Farenheit 451" seem like very, very real possiblilties of what our society will look like in that amount of time. This society might forget all about Remembrance day in the future.
