Blog 4 - Monday, September 21, 2020
There will only be ONE (1) blog this week! No school Friday.
Early in the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Montag is questioned by Clarisse about whether or not "he is happy" (7). Montag feels as if he is being challenged by this teenager.
Who do you feel challenges you? How do they challenge you? Do you like being challenged?
Explain your reasoning. (It could be a friend, a parent, a coach, a sibling, a teacher, etc)
Plus, take a SELFIE with the person that challenges you. E-mail the selfie to gkatz@lbpearson.ca
Good Luck :)
Some quick prompts you can use for better blog comments:
-- What can you add from your own experience? Share a relevant story from your life. “This reminds me of a time…”
-- Is there a fact that is relevant to what they said that you could share, that either supports or challenges their point?
-- Ask them a question.
-- How does their ideas make you feel?
-- "I never thought about ___ like that. I used to think…. But now I see/wonder..."
My family are the people who challenge me. Whether it's from challenging myself to get good marks to just helping around, it's them. My grandparents challenge me, my parents challenge me and even my sister challenges me. My grandparents challenge me by working around the house, cutting the grass or just helping them which I enjoy. My parents challenge me a lot more. They challenge me to get good grades, and just act properly and nice in life. My sister also challenges me, even if it's just a board game. Although we are just playing games, she always challenges me as she really wants to win. Personally, I like being challenged as it motivates me to do better, and makes me want to try more and more to succeed. I liked being challenged from my family members as I know they love me, and by challenging me, I know they care.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading that you also get challenged by everyone in your family, good job.
DeleteMy brothers are the people who challenge me. Whether it be a sport or in school, all of my brother have done relatively well, so it's only natural for me to want to at least obtain results equal to them which is a great motivation, yet can also be frustrating when I get a bad mark. It's always good to have motivation when doing something which is why I'm happy about my challenge. I'm also grateful that my parents will never compare me to my brothers if I'm not as good at them at something.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why your brothers challenge you, its a good thing that you have older people to challenge you and I get that frustration when you don't do well, great blog
DeleteMy hockey coaches are the ones who challenge me, each and every single one has challenged me, tested me and trained me extremely hard. If they had never challenged me I would never be as good as I am today, and for this I am thankful. I used to hate the challenge and the training but over the years i have grown accustomed to it and I now thrive under pressure and thanks to them I have been able to grow into the player that they see me as now. I think that it is very important to be challenged and I am glad that i was challenged.
ReplyDeleteGreat points, you have very detailed ideas!
DeleteMy cousin challenges me a lot, he makes me try different things such as sports and he makes me push my limits. It encourages me so I like being challenged, because you never know what you can do unless you try it. He also makes sure that I do my very best in everything to help me understand what I can really do. My cousin always pushes me to do things which will help me in the long run, especially school. He challenges me based on his own experiences so it really helps me discover what I like and what I can do. We challenge each other all the time and it's really fun knowing that you can do something with someone doing it with you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, great blog!
DeleteGreat blog, I totally can relate to you!
DeleteI love the part where you say "you never know what you can do unless you try it". That is such an important saying because it is as relevant millions of years ago as it is today. That is what brought us to where we are now. From fire, to houses, to boats, to trains, to cars, to television, etc. It is the foundation of our world.
DeleteThe person that I think challenges is my sister. We challenge each other because we are both supper competitive so we are always trying be better than the other. I like being challenged by her because it makes me try so much harder to show her that I am the better sister. Being challenged by sister ends up being good for the both of us because we reach goals that we never thought we could reach. For example, when my sister and I run together we are always trying to be the first one done.
ReplyDeletei agree with you. i also have a sister and we're extremely competitive with each other. great blog!
DeleteMy brother and I are super competitive too. Great blog!
DeleteMy parents are the ones that challenge me. Whether it's to do better in school, or do better in sports, they’re always trying to make me do my best. They push me to my limits to make me do the absolute best I can. I'm very thankful for my parents because they make me the best person that I can be. My mom pushes me in math. She always looks out for me and is always there in case I need help. She challenges me to do my best. My dad challenges me when I play soccer. He pushes me to my limits , which makes me a better teammate and player. I like being challenged because it makes me do the best I can possibly do.
ReplyDeleteMy dad is the exact same, pushing me to my limits in sport. Good blog
DeleteSomeone who I find challenges me is my mom. She challenges me academically to always do better and to be the best version of myself. My mom is always making sure that I am doing the best I can. She supports me and my decisions. She even challenges me when we play board games like Scrabble. She makes me an overall better person and student. Personally I like being challenged because it motivates me to do better, pushes me to succeed and to reach new goals and limits.
ReplyDeleteThis personally reminds me of my mom! Nice blog!
DeleteI can relate to you, great blog!
DeleteI think my parents challenge me a lot. They challenge me by making me do extra stuff and making me learn and do hard stuff for the future. They challenge me academically mainly but sometimes physically. Sometimes, I feel like I’m getting challenged too much sometimes. That is why I only like being challenged sometimes and not all the time because it can put stress on me. But I believe that being challenged is very important and that everyone is challenged by someone.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Muhammad! Your parents seem really cool. Keep on making them push you to succeed.
DeleteThe person who challenges me the most is my father. He always pushes me to do better physically and academically. It can be very annoying at times but I know that he's doing it for my benefit. I'm glad to have someone who takes me out of my comfort zone because I think the biggest reason that not everyone is successful is that they get comfortable. Comfort is the worst because the second you get comfortable, you lose your ambition. When you lose your ambition, you stop chasing your dreams. Comfort is the dream killer. That's why I believe everyone should have somebody who always pushes them and takes them out of their comfort zone so that they stay sharp and focused.
ReplyDeleteMy father is exactly the same, great blog.
DeleteThe person who challenges me is my friend Viplav. Viplav and I have been very close friends since the first day of Secondary 1. Ever since that day we have been ultimate rivals in school. We were both overall well in our academics and thats what brought us close and made us challenge each-other. He always pushes me to get better and helps me when I am stuck. He keeps me going by challenging me through our grades and it honestly really helps. Sometimes I feel like giving up on a questions or just a general problem, his challenges make me want to continue and solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteI agree, sometimes its the friends who push you harder to make sure that you both ride the rollercoster of education right till the end.
DeleteI agree, sometimes the best at challenging you is your friend. Great blog!
DeleteHave not really thought about before but now that you mention it I think the people that challenges me most is my parents and my grandma. My grandma challenges me to do my hardest especially in math because she wants to be just as good as she was and she is a genius in that subject. My parents challenge me every day by making me do daily chores and my homework. They also encourage me to do more than expected because without risk there is no reward. I remember when elementary school I had to write an english essay and instead of writting the bear minimum I decided to write more and explain the subject further into detail. It was a big risk I took knowing that sometimes if u write too much than can subtract marks. Luckily for me the teacher liked it so much they gave me bonus marks which made me proud of myself and realise that some risks are worth taking. My parents and grandma are the ones challenging me to do better in school. They push me to try my best and give it my all.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that your parents push you to do better.

ReplyDeleteI have 3 people in my life that challenge me the most, not including my parents. I have my coach, and 2 of my team mates. I feel like my coach challenges me because he always pushes me, challenges me to beat my times. 2 of my team mates, Yasmine and Marisa, we challenge each other, try to race against each other and win bragging rights, with that it pushes me further to win against them. I personally like being challenged because it pushes me to go further and to do better, it motivates me.
I agree, good coaches and teammates encourage people.
DeleteThe person that challenges me the most is my brother. Not so much in an academic way because he's in sec 2 so I'm obviously way smarter, but more in a annoying sibling like fashion. My brother and I are very competitive and because of this we always want to be better than each other. I find that this competition between us makes us strive to do better and that we're both better because of it. You'd think that because he's a year younger he'd be worse at most things, but even when we fight he still finds a way to hold his own.
ReplyDeleteMy brother is almost the exact same as yours, but he is older than both of us, and way bigger and stronger.
DeleteI feel that my brother challenges me everyday. He always says he is better than me at most things, and that really motivates me to become higher than that. Once he said he was better than me at badminton, and that was why I started with badminton as my first sport ( I was horrible at it. But he was worse. ). He doesn’t challenge me academically, because he is in Sec. 5, so he MAY be smarter than me, but we are constantly competing in stuff like fencing ( we take fencing lessons together ), or in video games. I always try to prove him wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is, he is ALMOST always right. He still challenges me, though.
Yeah I can relate. Having a sibling is tough but fun
DeleteSiblings are great ayy
DeleteI think the person who challenges me the most is my mom. She challenges me academically and physically. She always wants me to try new things and get out of my comfort zones. My mom is also very supportive. She helps me when I'm stuck and challenges me when I'm not. Personally, I like being challenged by people because I feel like this is what makes you grow and do better. If we always do something that we good at, instead of trying new things, we will never know what else we can do.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, being challenged by someone makes you grow and do better!

ReplyDeleteMy best friend challenges me the most. She challenges me by becoming a better version of myself. For example if I'm not having a good day, she'll challenge me by doing something fun and motivational. My best friend also helps me a lot when it comes to things like asking her how to respond to a text, what to wear or homework. She also challenges me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things with her. Overall, she has challenged me to become a better person of myself and I can't thank her enough. She made me who I am today. I like being challenged because it helps me increase my motivation to do more things in life.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in my life who pushes me is my mom. She always encourages me and helps me. My mom challenges me to do well academically as well as athletically.. She also challenges me by sometimes pushing me out of my comfort zone. I always want to make her proud of me so I do my best for me, and my mom. Even if I do poorly on a test or I have a bad hockey/soccer game, she always finds something positive and pushes me to do better next time. She is proud of me no matter what and gives me confidence.
ReplyDeletei totally relate to you, my mom is the same. great blog
DeleteMy grandfather challenges me the most. He's always trying to get me to learn new things or get better at what I already know. I enjoy being challenged by him because my grandfather is a very smart man that has percerveired through everything in his life and is the smartest person I know. My grandfather has thought me to be more open to other peoples ideas and to learn to look at things from others perspectives which has helped me since I learnt to do them.
ReplyDeleteI can relate, great blog!
Deletethe person who challenges me the most is probably my parents. they challenge me to be my best self and to do well in school. they also challenge me by trying to get me to do new things as well as getting better at stuff i can already do. like for example my mom was the one to help me learn how to bike and now i bike almost every day. i'm glad they challenge me to become a better person i feel like whenever they challenge me it makes me want to do better, although sometimes they challenge me too much.
ReplyDeleteGood blog my parents are like that too.
DeleteI find that my older sister really challenges me. Don't get me wrong, all my family is really supportive and challenges me go get to my goals, but it's my sister that would never stop. She is always there for me. She want the best for me and she'll always be there to pull me back up when I'm close to giving up. She challenges me in the way that I guess any older sibling would do. She can sometimes be annoyingly challenging or challenging in the supportive way. All I know is that I love being challenged by her because she gives me the idea that I can do anything. I know that she will always be there for me.
ReplyDeleteI think that sometimes my friends challenge me. If I say something stupid or a fact that they think is wrong. Then sometimes they challenge it. Then we look it up or ask someone and see who's right. They also sometimes think they're better than me at something which sometimes they are, but they still challenge me. I like being challenged by them because I get to say I told you so if they're wrong. But if they're right then I learn something. But I hate it when they're right.
ReplyDeleteJulian u are awesome
DeleteA person who challenges me is my mother, she challenges me by forcing me to work harder. She makes me try to get better grades and be good at school. I don't like being challenged like this because I don't like getting yelled at when I inevitably fail because her standards were too high. She also tries to challenge me to exercise and eat better to lead a healthier lifestyle, being challenged in this way is ok I think because I really do need to be healthier.
ReplyDeleteThe person that challenges me most on the planet is Kobe Bryant. He challenges me by just being himself. I’m a super competitive person and I would do anything to become better at my craft. Without Kobe I wouldn’t be where I am today as a person. He taught me how to fear anything/anyone, he taught me how too even when you don’t feel like doing something you should do it because there is someone on the planet who is working when you're not and in the long run they will be better. When I heard the news that he died I was in shock, I didn’t think it was real. I was on my way to my basketball game and I was just in shock because my role model had just died and now I have to play. I played that game and hit a couple clutch shots. It felt like he was watching over me. #ripmamba
ReplyDeleteI think the person who challenges me the most is my dad because he is always very encouraging and helpful, especially when i am too hard on myself (mainly writing assignments). He just wants me to do my best and sometimes push my limits. I find this very helpful.
ReplyDeleteMy football team is a second home to me. Everyone challenges each other and everyone thrives to get better. Sometimes one person in particular challenges you the most. For me that person is the Head Coach of the North Shore Lions Bantam AAA football team, Coach Terry White. whenever Coach Terry is watching your unit, he's the one you want to prove yourself to. I have already proved myself as its my second year. My coach and I, have formed a bond threw the sport we both love and he will never stop pushing/challenging me for the long that he coaches me. Coach Terry doesn't only teach football, he teaches you to be a man and how to be respectful and respected outside the sport.
ReplyDeleteI think my parents are the people who challenge me the most. My parents really want me to be smart and also to succeed. so if i were to get a bad mark on a test, they would get mad which would challenge me to do better. I guess I like being challenged so that i can do better and so that i do not fail. I think that you need to be challenged a little bit because if you are not, you would never improve.
ReplyDeleteMy parents challenge me to do well in school too. Great blog!
DeleteSomebody who challenges me would be my dance teachers and friends. They all challenge me to be a better dancer and whenever I'm in class my teacher pushes me to try my hardest in everything we do. Sometimes, i'm not in the mood to be challenged but I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when you finished a really hard class. I like being challenged because it makes you better. Consistently trying your hardest will result in making you better. Ballet takes a lot of discipline and hard work, over the past few years I've developed these skills and used them in almost every aspect of my life.
ReplyDeleteThe person that challenges me the most is myself, now there are a lot of other important people in my life like my tennis coach for example. But when it comes down to setting goals and completing them with the confidence necessary to complete that task, I motivate myself the most. I love challenges because they make you think, if everything were to be easy then life would be extremely boring. Challenges are tough and demanding which means you aren't always going to succeed and failing makes you stronger.
