There will only be ONE (1) blog this week!
Welcome back to school.
Tell me about your first week back to school? How do you feel about all the changes?
Do you feel that the media plays a role about influencing your decisions about back to school?
Explain.
I think going back to school has been somewhat of an adjustment. I find that it isn't that big of a change because it's very similar to what elementary school was like. I mean, it sucks that we can't move around as much or see our friends for that long, but I'm getting used to it. I think the media does have a big impact on our decisions based on their saying about the Corona virus and that more people are getting infected each day. It causes some anxiety for many parents, students and teachers.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, the media does have a big impact
Deletegreat points! great blog
DeleteI agree it's unfortunate that we cant' see our friends for as on we we would of wanted to.
DeleteGoing back to school was really different. I'm not used to staying in the same class and only going outside at lunch, it also gets very boring sitting down all day in the same seat. I don't like how we can't see our friends from other classes during the day. Yes I think that the media does have an impact about influencing my decision to go back to school because it shows how high the total number of cases is and how many people are getting infected everyday.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it sucks not being able to see my friends for such a long time, only to see them at lunch for a little bit.
DeleteI think the points that you are making are great and I have the same ideas and issues. It really does sucks.
DeleteGoing back to school was very different for everyone compared to last year; it will take time to get used to. Although most people do not like saying in the same class all day, I have to disagree. Yes I understand that it sucks not to see your friends, or to not move and stay in the same seat, but I have to say, I find its easier to understand or at least concentrate more on what I do. Rather instead of concentrating on what I have next, I could just focus on what Im doing, and potentially get better. Overall I like what the school did, although many others would disagree. The media these days are very important and have a big impact on our current life. We use it everyday. I believe whatever the media says, whether it can be right or wrong is how people make decisions. If they say something bad, I am sure that many people would do/act the same way. Corona is something that is very bad and the media always states that, but to a certain extent, we need to get back to our normal life, go back to school. The media for sure has influenced our decision.
ReplyDeleteGood points, the media always influences others.
DeleteThat's great that you're able to find a positive amongst all this negativity. Great blog.
DeleteGetting back to school was much different than I thought it would be. I didn’t think there were going to be this many adjustments and changes but I am alright with it. It was easy to adjust to but sitting in my chair makes me want to die. I don’t have any space around me and I feel like there should be. I think the media influences a lot of stuff these days and they definitely influence my decision to go back to school. They have valid arguments that influence me and my parents and right now and my mom would rather want me to do online school thanks to the media.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, we are stuck in the same desk all day long, we have to wear a mask that irritates our faces and the distance between desks were not tempered with to accommodate the social distancing guideline necessary for our safety. Though the distance between desks are acceptable because of our numerous comrades that also require to be educated during these times.
Deletesolid statement I agree with all of it and can relate to the part about your parents being stressed about sending you back
DeleteSince nobody has been to school in about six months, I was kinda nervous to go back to school. I was excited to see all my friends that I didn't see over the summer but besides that I wasn't looking forward to my first day of school. I think it was pretty easy to adapt to all the changes because this year we don't have to change class so the only thing we really have to do is put out mask on and sanitize when we come in. I think the media does have an impact about my decision about going back to school because everyday the total of cases of covid is getting greater.
ReplyDeleteI personally agree with your statement about social media impacting coming back to school because in most places it states covid numbers and how you should stay home.
DeleteGoing back to school was easy but there were a lot of adjustments that we had to make, for example not switching in between classes, putting on hand sanitizer every time we touch anything and wearing a mask. I personally think that I adjusted well and i'm alright and okay with everything because everyone's just trying to stay safe. I believe that social media does have a huge impact because it keeps telling me that i shouldn't go to school and stay home because of the covid numbers, but i'm here because my parents won me over.
ReplyDeletei agree with you, there was definitely a lot of adjustments that i had to make.
DeleteTo be fully honest I haven't really loved my first week back at school. Most of these problems stem from the changes that have been made such as being stuck in the same class all day and removing lockers. In my opinion tho these changes might have been needed they have hugely impacted students such as myself and made school feel even more tired. I do think that the media has played a huge role in the decisions that have been made thus far and will most likely continue to. The media tends to focus on the negative elements of everything like how cases have been going up with schools starting but negates to mention that even tho they're going up they aren't going up as quickly as anticipated. That's all.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that there have been a lot of changes and rules to the point where you don’t think you’ve been to this school before. Although I am disappointed about not being able to see a lot of my friends except during lunch, I have noticed that because of all the changes going on and all the media going crazy the teachers are also coming to realize that this is a special year and I’ve noticed that a lot of them are taking it easy on the homework regardless of if it’s because of the virus or not. For example, our gym teacher says we won’t have to do assignments in term 1, online or not. Our science teacher is taking it easy on us and not giving us a lot of homework and so is our math teacher. I got more homework in grade 8 with Ms. Plante in math. All this to say, I think that while it’s too bad we are missing out on certain things, we can easily miss the positives of our situation. The media, the biggest source of information nowadays, won’t tell you the positives, you have to see them yourself.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your blog, Thomas. Not seeing our friends besides lunch sucks but at least the homework hasn't been crazy.
DeleteFor me, going back to school was tough because I was waking up at 11 normally and then all of a sudden I need to wake up at 6 and go to school and follow all the procedures. On top of that we actually need to work. The work is not that hard. I just don't like working. But even if it's tiring, I do enjoy seeing and talking to my friends after all this time in quarantine. How do I feel about the changes? I like wearing a mask and don't like it because then people can't see my face but on the other hand it's hard to hear and can get stuffy. I know it's necessary but still. I also find it hard to concentrate because we are in the same classroom in the same spot for the whole day. It's very uncomfortable. I'm thinking of bringing a pillow for my chair but I don't think that's necessary. The media did influence my decision to go back to school by giving me the number of cases and the dangers of going. They also said something about school closing again in maybe five weeks which almost made me stay but I think the school is doing a decent job at preventing this and I felt I needed something productive to do. Also my parents made me go.
ReplyDeleteI agree, getting used to waking up at 6 was really hard.
DeleteI used to sleep in until 9:00 AM, so this whole "waking up at 6:00" thing has hit me pretty hard.
DeleteMy first week of school began with utter fear for I had just been transferred to IB program. I didn't know what to do and on top of that, things changed even more because of Covid-19 with the new regulations we had to follow so we can be safe. I was slightly worried. A few days later, I started getting adjusted to IB and its expectations, as well as all the new safety measures put in place to protect students and teachers. So far I understand the subjects being taught in my classes and I am enjoying them.
ReplyDeleteThe media has played a large roll in coming back to school. Due to the current situation, many protocols have been put in place for the return of students in order to keep them safe as the coronavirus progresses. The media from day to day informs the public of the most recent guidelines stipulated by the Quebec government. These regulations evolve as more information is
obtained about covid-19 through studies and the course of path the virus takes along the way. I myself have been keeping myself informed by following the news daily to be aware of any changes. If it weren't for the media on TV, radio and internet sites, I would be oblivious to any new regulations put in place to stay safe. At this present moment I am aware that what keeps us safe is to wear a mask when close to others, to wash your hands or sanitise when touching objects others may have touched and to stay 6 feet apart when at all possible. When putting all this into practice I do feel safe.
Aside from the corona virus, I am pleased to be back in a learning environment and to be able to socialise again.
Well I hope your enjoying the IB program its going to get tough but reflections and IB stuff gets easier when you get used to everything.
DeleteI think going back to school was a lot different than how we used to do it. Many changes were made, such as staying in the same classroom all day, except for lunch when you can go out and see your friends. Sanitizing your hands every time you touched somethings and keeping your distance with others. It's not something that we always do, but doing these things are keeping everyone safe, so I guess it's worth it. I do feel that the media has a big influence on my decision about going back to school. Because it tells you if the virus is getting worse or better, so you can know about what is happening right now, but sometimes it might also make people feel stressed.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree, the measures put in place are hard and annoying but if its keeping us relatively safe then its worth it.
DeleteIn full honesty ive always preferred the first week of school to the others, considering that its always the easiest week during the school year. This one is special though and very uncomfortable due to the fact that we are sitting in one chair for 7 hours. I personally don't find this beginning to the school year to be great, despite its academic ease. It involves too much effort, for what it is. As for the media, I think that it plays a massive role in the dislike of the first week of school, and although the media always has cast a shadow over the first few days of school, this school year, as I said is special, and brought with it an overwhelming sea of negative comments and attention.
ReplyDeleteGood paragraph I agree with how the media had an influence on how you feel about school.
DeleteI agree with you, the media always focuses on the negative side of things and not the positive. Good Paragraph
DeleteMy first week back to school was very different from previous years. There were new measures put in place like having to wear masks in the hallway, sanitizing your handles regularly and staying in the same class throughout the day. It will take time to get used to and I understand that these new rules are here to keep us safe.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that the media does have an influence on our decision to go back to school. I believe the media controls a lot of what we think. Reading and watching it can impact our perspective and view on certain topics due to biased sources.
I agree, it's going to take a lot of time to get used to sanitizing every day and wearing masks.
DeleteSo far coming back to school and going into grade 9 has sucked. We managed to do something that had never been done before and get 2 presentations on the first 2 days of school, plus wearing a mask all the time sucks. It feels like I'm being lightly strangled by a piece of cloth. Other than that school really hasn't changed that much, except for the one classroom thing, which would be better than previous years if it wasn't so boring sitting down for 7 hours straight. Personally the media doesn't have much of an effect over me because I never watch the news, but I think that it could have a huge impact on the way other people act in school.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeletePersonally, I've always looked at the first week of school as being easy and a lot less homework, but the fact that we have to sit on one chair at one desk next to the same people all day makes it very hard to concentrate and do my work. I need to move around to stay focused, and that's hard to do when you're stuck in one classroom. It also sucks because I can only see my friends for 30-40 minutes at lunch.
I think the media plays a big role because it makes me second guess my decision to go back to school every day seeing the total number of cases get higher and higher in schools.
Oh man, school this year is so different, and definitely a strange turn to what I am used to. For one, masks are kinda hard to breath in, especially in a classroom full of other people taking deep breaths, just like you. However, it is nice to finally be allowed off campus during lunch, so that we can go anywhere, as long as we get back in time. The media has a very big impact on going back to school, because they have so much influence over people, they might say something the slightest bit wrong, and it can send people into full-blown panic attacks. And these days, the media can almost ever be trusted, at least in my opinion, because they have already spread so much misinformation. Did you know people still think 5G towers caused the corona virus?
ReplyDeleteThis was written by Liam, by the way. Haven't logged in properly.
DeleteI agree. Going off school property to get some fresh air is great especially now since we're stuck in the same classroom all day long.
DeleteYeah, leaving school at lunch is great.
DeleteGoing to school this year has definitely been interesting. I wasn't very excited about going back. Honestly it's been decent but nothing exciting has happened, its quite boring and tiring. I'm not used to staying In the same class all day, wearing a mask and using hand sanitizer regularly. On top of the stress that comes with being a high school student we have to deal with all the worries of cover-19 and that has personally taken a toll on me. I believe that the media has a huge influence on our decisions, seeing the numbers going up everyday in schools is very much stressing me out, and watching and reading about others experiences has made me wonder if it's safe to be at school during this pandemic.
ReplyDeleteI agree, staying in the same class all day wasn't something that I'm used to.
DeleteMy first week at school was very tiring. After somewhat getting back into a routine i feel ready for next week. Hearing that the school sports weren't happening this year was expected but still a bummer. Sitting in the same plastic chair all day can be very uncomfortable and those chairs hurt back so much. staying with the same people all year round will need some getting used too. The media is something that isn't always reliable, but some things are true and you must take the extra precautions. To be honest the virus doesn't really scare me so I don't really keep up with the numbers.
ReplyDeletesir i used the wrong email by accident its otis
DeleteMy first week at school was very enjoyable, I met up with my friends that I haven’t seen since last school year, and I met my new teachers and classmates. Although the week felt extremely long, there were still some positives to this week. We got to go off school property on our lunch break, we got to meet up with our friends and we got to bring our computers into class. On the other hand, some of the rules are a bit annoying such as waiting outside for awhile before we go into class, staying in the same class and in the same seat all day and having to constantly wear our masks apart from sitting down. I know these are our mandatory rules to keep everyone safe, but they can get annoying after a couple of days. The media always portrays the worst end of every story like the corona virus. It influenced many people into backing out of school and instead doing online school because of all the negative it shows us. I’m sure that most numbers of cases went down significantly but it's hard to know when the media is only showing the numbers that went up.

DeleteI completely agree Anthony, having to wait outside and sitting down in the same seat everyday can get really boring and can drive you crazy but like you said, it's for our safety, so we got to do what we got to do.
Deleteyeah, i know the boredom that comes with the new rules but like you said we gotta do what we gotta do to beat covid. Great blog!
Deletei feel like the first week hasn't been great. like we're stuck in class all and I've gotten a lot of homework. i dont feel like the changes are that different compared to last year except that we have to wear masks.I feel like i'm already getting used to all the changes which is good, although i hope things go back to normal soon. I dont feel like the media influences my decisions to go back to school that much since i never really watch it, but i definitely think it affects other people for sure.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the points you make and also hope that everything will go back to normal soon.
DeleteI agree, we have gotten a lot of homework and I hope we won't have to stay like this for long.
DeleteMy first week back to school was ok, I do think that most of the school staff is trying to be cautious and try their best to stop the spread of the virus. However, it really bothers me when my teachers don't wear their mask and hover around my desk. I strongly believe that the teachers should keep their masks on when stepping out of the zone around their desk. I don't think that the media plays a role in my opinion of the school changes because I don't listen to the news or media therefore it is impossible for me to have a bias opinion.
ReplyDeleteI agree, great blog!
DeleteI think my first week going back to school was fine. It can get boring staying seated all day in the same classroom. Although we have periods at lunch to go outside I wish we got more time to get up and move around. I think the media plays a role to influence students and parents about going back because when you see how many other schools that had to close and how many people are getting infected it makes you reconsider your decisions.
ReplyDeleteMy first week of school was interesting and boring at the same time. I got to see all my friends again and I got lucky that I am in a class with a lot of friends which is cool, but not being able to see the rest of my friends except at lunch is little bit dull in my opinion. During the first few days, I noticed some aspects of the new changes that will be almost intolerable. Having to wait outside for a long time before going into the school in the mornings is annoying because I am so tired and I just want to sit down. Another aspect that isn't fun is that you have to sit down for about 5 out of the six hours of school. I need to move around a bit or else I lose my mind. The last thing about the new changes is not having a locker is killing my back. My school bag weighs a thousand pounds and it's just annoying. I feel as if we should also have more time outside because the amount of time we spend inside greatly surpasses the amount of time we spend outside.
ReplyDeleteMy first week of school was great apart from yesterday in which I had a million things to do since I didn't finish anything in class. ok it was only 8 things due today, 2 of them were due after school. I really wish I finished more in class but i manage (barely sometimes) to battle the overwhelming. I don't think the media influences my choice but i don't think that the rules are the safest they can be. i think we should stay 2 m from everyone and not talk face to face with no masks in a class unless you are 2m apart.
ReplyDeleteThe first week of school has not been great so far. It has been hard to wear a mask the whole day and have to stay seated for that long too. We have also gotten a lot of homework and it has been hard to adjust my sleep schedule back to normal. It is also a nerve racking that any one of us could have the virus but not know it and give it to other people. I think the media influences a lot of people by scaring them saying we shouldn’t go back and that there will be a second wave. It has definitely influenced me because if I get it, I could spread it.
ReplyDeleteMy first week back at school was not great. There has been a lot of homework and school starts too early so i am usually tired. I don't mind wearing a mask all day and sitting in the same seat isn't that bad. I do not like how there aren't lockers though because my bag is too heavy to bring to school everyday. I think the media influences people's decisions about school because it talks mostly about the negative things about school, but none of the good things.
ReplyDeleteGoing back to school was different. After not being in school for about 6 months and then going back and not being able to move around isn’t that fun. It's like elementary school, if my friends aren’t in my class I could only see them in the morning and at lunch. I’m one of those kids where if i can’t move it makes me feel weird .Going back too school was hard at the beginning because I wasn’t going too bed early and waking up early so that was hard too fix.
ReplyDeleteSo far coming back to school and going into grade 9 has sucked. We managed to do something that had never been done before and get 2 presentations on the first 2 days of school, plus wearing a mask all the time sucks. It feels like I'm being lightly strangled by a piece of cloth. Personally the media doesn't have much of an effect over me because I never watch the news, but I think that it could have a huge impact on the way other people act in school.
ReplyDeleteI dont think anyones gonna see these, but im gonna say that im amazing in every blog for the rest of the year
